The Cabin in the Woods

Lionsgate has released the first ever clip from Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard’s The Cabin in the Woods, which slasher into theaters Friday, April 13.

We’ve already seen the film (and loved it), which is why we can honestly understand the difficulty in marketing such a film. This is why I truly love the clip the Gate has selected to share with you guys. Below you’ll watch as the group of friends play a game of “true or dare” only to be interrupted by the cellar door blowing open. The clip shares the playful dialogue delivered by “Buffy”s Joss Whedon, while also giving homage to classic horror like Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead franchise. In short, this clip is a very honest representation of the high concept slasher.

The R-rated horror flick follows “A group of friends at a cabin retreat scratch the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom it as time quickly runs out. If you think you know this story, think again. ‘Cabin in the Woods’ is a mind-blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.
