John Carpenter Appreciation Thread

Been preparing to finish off his filmography, so I was wondering how people on here would rank his work. He's become one of my favorite director's over the last few months, and it'd be cool to see where people would place some of his "lesser" works for a general idea about where to go from here.

1.) Halloween
2.) The Thing
3.) In the Mouth of Madness
4.) Big Trouble in Little China
5.) Assault on Precinct 13
6.) Escape from New York
7.) Ghosts of Mars
8.) The Fog
9.) Prince of Darkness
10.) Christine
11.) Vampires

Thank you for not putting your name in the thread title. I would have avoided it at all costs otherwise.

Only thing I haven't seen is Ghost of Mars. I kind of find it hard to muster up the interest in that one.

Haven't seen Ghost Of Mars either. Maybe because it was made around the time of Escape From LA, and I was somewhat disappointed in that film.

Voted Halloween as it's my all time favourite movie. I like to give Assault on Precinct 13 some love though, it's up there with The Thing for me.

I might try and watch Big Trouble in little China at the cinema next week, it's been so long since I've seen it I barely remember it.

Will also say that Carpenter is my favourite director. Not sure anyone else has got such an impressive filmography I love and revisit as much as Carpenter. Especially in terms of genre.

Don't bother watching it. Mercenaries in horror is a really stupid concept.

You're missing nothing. I'm sorry I went to see it at the theater. Was a huge disappointment.

If you've seen "Village Of The Damned" & "Memoirs Of An Invisible Man" you shouldn't be hesitant to watch "Ghosts Of Mars". It's better than both and fun as hell.

Hands down my favorite director whose films I revisit more than any other filmmaker.

The Thing
Halloween
Escape From New York
The Fog
Assault On Precinct 13
Big Trouble In Little China
Prince Of Darkness
Starman
Christine
They Live
Vampires
Ghosts Of Mars
In The Mouth Of Madness
Village Of The Damned
Body Bags
Memoirs Of An Invisible Man
Escape From L.A.

Haven't seen "The Ward". Even with the negative response I would've checked it out by now if for only to hear a new Carpenter score but alas he deferred the music side of things to someone else.

Voted Halloween, though I'm now second guessing whether I should stick with The Thing. Either way I have a lot of movies to catch up on, didn't know he made some of those : /
