Back in November Robert Zemeckis dropped out of Here There Be Monsters, Legendary Pictures’ movie about Revolutionary War naval hero John Paul Jones with sea monsters that was penned by Brian Helgeland.

Breathing new life into the project, Vulture is reporting that Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird is meeting with Legendary brass about the project, which originated as an idea by company chairman Thomas Tull.

Say what you will about the latest Mission Impossible, but Bird has proved he knows how to direct action, and more importantly how to create suspense. And for those of you unaware, Bird also directed two astounding animated projects, both Ratatouille and The Incredibles, the latter being 1,000x more entertaining that the rival Fantastic Four movie that hit the next summer.
