Gary Busey Fired From Indie Horror Shoot

Published

Much like his “Celebrity Apprentice” gig, Gary Busey received the axe once again–this time from filming the upcoming horror flick Mansion of Blood, reports E!

While not exactly denying reports that several members of the production had complained to producers about the actor, Busey’s publicist tells E! News that “contractual issues” were to blame for Gary leaving.

The situation was plagued by contractual issues and misunderstandings from the outset,” rep Michael Conley said. “Gary considers the episode concluded and has no further comment on the matter.

Sources quoted by TMZ allege that the production was frustrated with the thespian, complaining that he was difficult to work with and had made inappropriate remarks to a woman on set.

Despite only shooting half of the scenes he was hired for, the wacky actor was given the boot and the rest of his scenes were rewritten and another actor brought in to finish up what was left.

Directed by Mike Donahue and starring Ray Quiroda, Tom Tangen, Eddie Salazar, Andre Agazaryan, Jaira Valenti and Chris Allaire, “ ‘Mansion of Blood’ is a grueling horror film set in an abandoned haunted mansion built in 1912 which is renovated in 2012 by millionaire Mason Murphy. To celebrate his new home he hosts a lunar eclipse viewing party at the mansion, inviting everyone in the small town of River Ridge.

A witch casts a spell under the eclipse to visit with the spirit of her dead boyfriend, but the magic runs out of control due to the magically charged items in the house. Thrown outside of normal space and time, the guests are trapped at the mansion until the curse can be broken.

Horror movie fanatic who co-founded Bloody Disgusting in 2001. Producer on Southbound, V/H/S/2/3/94, SiREN, Under the Bed, and A Horrible Way to Die. Chicago-based. In addition to Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Universal Monsters movie Wolf Man, Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) has also joined the cast of Weapons, THR has announced tonight.

Weapons is the new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), with Julia Garner joining the previously announced Josh Brolin (Dune 2).

The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
