But there is one person the brave older brother who can possibly stop the relentless destruction, setting up a powerful final showdown between good and evil.

MICAH SAYS: Just a note: Echo Bridge puts out some really substandard Blu-ray releases (no extras and usually crappy transfers). Be careful if you pick up anything distributed by them in Blu format.

CROPSEY – Vicious Circle Films / Breaking Glass Pictures

Urban legends–we either dismiss them or accept that they have some grain of truth. Directors Zeman and Brancaccio attempt to uncover one such urban myth as they investigate five missing children and the real-life boogeyman linked to their disappearance in Staten Island during their youth. Will this terrifying journey resolve what has haunted them since childhood?

MICAH SAYS: This is a f*cking creepy documentary. Not a fake documentary or shockumentary, just a well-told interesting look (read: unbiased) at real life horror meeting folklore. It’s the kind of film that will have you up late Googling the case.

DAHMER VS. GACY (DVD / Blu-ray) – Virgil Films Entertainment

A secret government lab run by Dr. Hess (Art LaFleur) has been trying to create the ultimate killer using the DNA of infamous killers Jeffrey Dahmer (Ford Austin) and John Wayne Gacy (Randal Malone), but there’s one big problem: they’ve escaped! Trying to stop the maniacal madness is Ringo (Ford Austin), a hick warrior being trained by God (Harland Williams), using only a shotgun and a bottle of whiskey. DETENTION – Take 2 Releasing / Allegro Media Group

Written and directed by Joseph Kahn, “Detention” tells the story of the senior class at Grizzly Lake high school. The road to graduation is never an easy one, but it’s further complicated for these students by the arrival of a slasher movie killer who has seemingly come to life. The only ones who can stop the killer are a handful of students, but they’ll have to cut out of detention if they’re to stand a chance at saving the world.

It’s nonstop thrills when George Clooney (The American) and Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction) star as the Gecko brothers–two dangerous outlaws on a wild crime spree! After kidnapping a father (Harvey Keitel, Little Fockers) and his two kids (including Juliette Lewis, Due Date), the Geckos head south to a seedy Mexican bar to hide out in safety. But when they face the bar’s truly notorious clientele, they’re forced to team up with their hostages in order to make it out alive! From Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, the creators of Grindhouse, From Dusk Till Dawn is explosive action entertainment!

HALLOWEEN VI: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MEYERS (Blu-ray) – Echo Bridge Home Entertainment

In a single horrifying night, Michael Myers’ masked reign of terror changed Halloween forever. Now, six years after he was presumed dead in a fire, Myers has returned to kill againand this time there’s no escape. As the homicidal fury builds to a spine-tingling climax, the long-hidden secrets of the screen’s most maniacal murderer are revealed…with shocking results. Starring a thrilling cast including legendary Donald Pleasence (Halloween) and Paul Rudd (Role Models).

I SAW THE DEVIL (DVD / Blu-ray) – Magnolia Home Entertainment

A hard-boiled thriller, I Saw The Devil stars Choi Min-sik (Oldboy) as a psychopathic serial killer up against Lee Byung-hun as a special agent whose fiancée becomes one of his victims. Lee’s cool-headed and intelligent character in turn becomes a monster in order to avenge the killing.

MICAH SAYS: From the director of “The Good, The Bad, and The Weird” comes Korea’s next big horror flick. The reviews on this movie are near unanimously excellent. It’s one of my faves of the year so far (Insidious and Stake Land being the others). Pick of the week.

KILLER YACHT PARTY – Troma Entertainment

Set Sail for Slaughter! A bevy of hot body teens looking to get their rocks off on the high seas and become fish food, when one of the passengers turns out to be a blood thirsty Nutjob. Bonus features include Director Commentary, Trailer.

SLEDGEHAMMER – Intervision Pictures Corp.

Intervision is proud to present the return of the first shot-on-tape slasher movie for the home video market as well as one of the rarest genre films of all! The plot is familiar: A group of friends comes to party at a backwoods house where a legacy of brutality awaits. But within this minimalist ’80s mélange of food fights, feathered hair and abusive slow-motion lurks a relentless synth score, bizarre sexual subtexts and a disturbing shape-shifting behemoth killer. The result is 85 minutes of fever-dream depravity, now loaded with brand-new Bonus Features that put it all in skull-shattering perspective. Former Playgirl centerfold Ted Prior (RAW NERVE, DEADLY PREY) stars in this nightmare-logic shocker from writer/ director David A. Prior (KILLER WORKOUT) where the lines between twisted horror and historic gore are pounded to a pulp…by SLEDGEHAMMER.

SLIME CITY MASSACRE – Shriek Show

A dirty bomb has decimated New York City s financial district and reduced midtown to a post-apocalyptic nightmare. The neighborhood known as Slime City has been evacuated, except for the homeless, and in the ruins of a soup kitchen four squatters discover a supply of food that transforms them into hideous slime creatures, driven to murder! Meanwhile, a greedy developer who has set his sights on Slime City hires a team of mercenaries to wipe out the creatures. It s a battle royale between the Slime Heads, the mercenaries, and bloodthirsty mutant cannibals!

THE VIOLENT KIND (DVD / Blu-ray) – Image Entertainment

The indie feature from the directors of The Hamiltons, the producers of Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and producers Michael Ferris Gibson and Jeremy Platt, revolves around a group of young bikers who find themselves tormented by mysterious and gory goings-on in a secluded farmhouse.

MICAH SAYS: My screener just arrived today so I haven’t had a chance to check this one out yet, but I am not holding out too much hope. The BD official review gives it a paltry one skull. My friend (and horror aficionado) went to a screening last week said, and I quote, “It was SO weird. Biker gangs and aliens… It was funny though.” Anyone else seen it, yet?
