[SXSW ’12] Suit Up In Armor And Grab A Sword, It’s Time For The First Ever ‘[REC] 3 Genesis’ Clips!!
Bloody Disgusting was tipped off to a pair of first ever clips from Paco Plaza’s [REC] 3 Genesis, the prequel to the found footage zombie/exorcism franchise that will premiere this Friday at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas. The two clips are ying to the yang as the first will introduce you to the wedding party pre-infection, while the second, well, gear up in a suit of armor and prep for battle!
In other non-news, other sites are a bit behind on the news as we’ve been telling you for months that Magnet/Magnolia will release the sequel later this year on VOD and in limited theaters, while Sony Home Entertainment will then dump it to DVD.
“Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate the most important day of their lives: their wedding. Everything appears to be running smoothly and the bride and groom and their families are enjoying a wonderful day; that is until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness. Before they know what’s happening, the bride and groom find themselves in the middle of a hellish ordeal, as an uncontrollable torrent of violence is unleashed on the wedding.”
Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.
The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.
Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.
Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.
Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.
THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
