Milo Ventimiglia Goes ‘Static’ in New Supernatural Thriller

Published

on

As much as I despised “Heroes,” I’m a big fan of actor Milo Ventimiglia, who also starred in Pathology, Rocky Balboa and Anchor Bay’s forthcoming post-apocalyptic thriller The Divide.

Next up he’ll be starring alongside “The L Word’s” Sarah Shahi in Static, a 3D thriller, TheWrap reports. Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left, Truth or Dare, Shark Night 3D, The Innkeepers) also stars.

Being helmed by music video director Todd Levin, “The movie is about a young couple, played by Ventimiglia and Shahi, on the verge of divorce after losing their child. Their world changes when a young visitor arrives, bringing supernatural implications to the household.

Static is one of the first low-budget features to be shot in full 3D (if you don’t count Scar 3D). Levin will use a camera rig designed specifically for the producers and director to hold two Sony PMW-F3 cameras — Sony’s answer to the RED 3D camera — and control costs. Movie’s budget is below $1 million.

Levin, and producers Gabriel Cowan, John Suits and Andrew Orci wrote the script. Talk about desperate for credit…

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
