Have seen this twice now and man does did it get better with a second viewing. Yes some of the characters aren't fleshed out enough, but they've said that will be rectified in Chapter 2. As for the CGI it all looked fine to me. People are making it sound like it's so bad it's embarrassing, but there has been so much worse.

My only real issues were that the characters' backgrounds weren't really explained with any depth early on - they just sort of rushed through introducing The Losers and then built from there.
Disappointing, but not unexpected. There's just so much detail and background in the book, and its never going to be possible to replicate that in movie form.

It's not that it's embarrassing. It's good for the horror genre when a horror movie makes a ton of cash. It's just that, when you compare this movie to part one of the original it pales in comparison.

My opinion about this movie... it really sucks... if they wanted to make a movie about kids, they should've shot a Goonies remake... there's absolute no horror in the movie... it really sucks... I kinda liked the old one... when I was 12...

Okay, I gotcha. So basically Georgie & the other victims are doomed to eternal suffering, yikes lol. But in the book is it stated or implied that they are free from floating after Pennywise is finally defeated?
Again, BOOK SPOILERS, but it is implied that the Deadlights in the Macroverse are eternal (though the Turtle croaks, so maybe It just thinks It is eternal) and the Losers might've only killed It's physical manifestation residing in Derry. It's left open enough for you to interpret it either way. The Deadlights (and Pennywise, though that's blamed on a possible hallucination) do show up in a later book.
Cool, this was the sort of info I was hoping to get, thanks friend, your help is very much appreciated.

It's raked in a tonne at the box office, topping a lot of horror records, so whether you were a fan or not it's great for the genre.

6 out of 10 ballons for me, not great, not terrible. Let's hope it is good for the horror genre, rather than * as I expect) the 'lets rip off it' genre, or the 'lets rip off eighties ghost movies' genre

I thought the movie was really good. However, it did feel overly long to me. As many have pointed out, a few of the characters are underdeveloped. I haven't read the book (yet), but the stuff with Henry and his dad felt kind of jarring to me and it didn't feel like it really added up to anything significant. Perhaps that is something that will be rectified in the sequel or would make more sense had I read the book first. I still really liked the movie and love the success it's having.

Really dug it and glad it's doing well. Skaarsgard was fantastic as Pennywise and the kid cast was really fucking good. I have no real problems with it outside of some of the CGI. Nothing too distracting for me.
2017 Horror Draft:

1. The Barn
2. Bride of Frankenstein
3. Warlock
4. The Brain That Wouldn't Die
5. Wishmaster

Directors cut for blu ray.

Doesn't indicate if any violence, blood or more Pennywise. Just scenes with the Losers.
