BD Pick Of The Week: ‘Deadpool Corps’ Issue #1 PLUS 5 Page Preview
Say what you will about the super aggressive marketing campaign of Marvel Comics in regards to the upcoming “DEADPOOL CORPS”, but one thing is for sure: it will move issues. No doubt about it, the Victor Gischler (“PUNISHER: FRANK CASTLE”) penned series is a red-hot commodity that is only adding gasoline to an already smoldering fire. Inside you can read all the news on our pick of the week, read the first 5 pages, laugh your booty-hole off, and as always “Why You Should Care”.

“POOLPOCALYPSE NOW: CUE ARMAGEDDON
The Deadpool Corps embark on the universe-spanning mission that only they can accomplish. Tapped by the Elders of the Universe to gather a crack team of his alternative universe selves for what amounts to an intergalactic suicide mission, Deadpool just can’t say no. Enter: Headpool, Kidpool, Dogpool and Lady Deadpool – and it’s off to the rescue, right? Not so fast. Turns out another Elder, the Champion, isn’t quite sold on this new super-team. If Deadpool and crew want to streak across the universe to face the ultimate enemy, their destiny, and much needed tacos and beer, they’re going to have to pass a little test first…”
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
There needs to be statistic out there to measure out what comic book is the most anticipated story of the year. Hey, stat guys who do nothing but do calculations and crap all day, get with the program! Chip chop chip! Anyway, there is no such stat (that I know of) so that is why I am taking it upon myself to make one up (60% of stats are made up anyway) and I’m naming “DEADPOOL CORPS” the second most anticipated new series of the Spring with the first being Vertigo’s “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”.
It seems that the fascination over the Merc-With-A-Mouth happened overnight, and one day all of a sudden ‘DEADPOOL” was a household name. Kind of like the ShamWow, only less absorbent. With crossovers all over the place from “WOLVERINE”, to “SPIDERMAN”, “MOON KNIGHT”, and everyone in between the sharp tongued assassin has placed himself at the top of most Marvel fans Pull And Holds. It is no surprise seeing as the laughs seem to cram themselves into every word balloon, and I defy you to laugh more at a single issue of any comic currently in circulation more than you will at a “DEADPOOL” title. Couple that with some fantastic zombie action courtesy of “HEADPOOL” and plenty of violence to go around, and you have yourself some good old fashion comic shenanigans that you can’t help but enjoy.
“CORPS” marks the first time that the entire cast and crew of the “DEADPOOL” universe will be together in one monthly ongoing series, and with that I fear that Marvel could be sued for busted guts of readers across the globe. The series boasts some great art from none other than Rob Liefeld (“X-FORCE”, “NEW MUTANTS” And The Jeers Of Readers Everywhere) and is written by popular hard boiled novelist Victor Gischler (“THE PUNISHER”, “SHOTGUN OPERA”). Gischler has been widely praised for his work on the ongoing “PUNISHER-FRANK CASTLE” and even if you harbor a deep-seated hatred for Mr. Liefeld you can’t help but be intrigued by what the duo are going to bring to the board.
So with that said I don’t think you really needed much convincing. “DEADPOOL CORPS” is destined to be a gigantic hit for Marvel that will only add to the characters’ growing fanbase.

‘The Wicked Trinity’ – Preview New Archie Comics One-Shot Inspired by ‘The Craft’ [Exclusive]
From Sabrina’s Magical World, Bloody Disgusting has learned this afternoon that Archie Comics will be releasing brand new one-shot comic The Wicked Trinity this coming June.
You’ll be able to meet The Wicked Trinity in the 32-page comic on June 12, 2024.
In The Wicked Trinity, “Sabrina’s magical nemesis Amber Nightstone and her sidekicks, Jade Kazane and Sapphire Gill, are intent on becoming the most powerful witches in the world. Isolated from so many around them, the three have formed a coven based on their individual needs for vengeance and true freedom.
“But when there is some dissent among the ranks, their small coven is threatened to be obliterated from within.”
The Wicked Trinity features a script by Sam Maggs, art by Lisa Sterle, colors by Ellie Wright, letters by Jack Morelli, main cover by Lisa Sterle, and variant cover by Soo Lee.
Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial Jamie L. Rotante tells Bloody Disgusting, “When Editor-In-Chief Mike Pellerito came up with the idea of the Wicked Trinity—Amber Nightstone, Jade Kazane, and Sapphire Gill—I was immediately intrigued. I even had the good fortune to work on the script for Jade and Sapphire’s first appearance in last year’s SABRINA ANNUAL SPECTACULAR comic for younger readers. What I especially loved about these magical teens is that they could seamlessly transcend from classic-Archie stories into more mature, even horror stories. I was eager to start developing their world with a modern sensibility, taking cues from the great work of Kelly Thompson and Veronica Fish on our SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH series, and Sarah Kuhn and Carola Borelli on our recent DARKLING one-shot. Inspired by series like Charmed and films like The Craft, I knew there was so much potential to build up this coven in a story that beautifully blends magical fantasy with horror.”
Writer Sam Maggs previews, “Real witches writing real witches—that’s how we do things over at Archie Comics! I was named after a famous witch—Samantha from Bewitched—and so I grew up absolutely obsessed with everything witchcraft, devouring every book series I could about teen witches. That makes WICKED TRINITY a dream project for me. The power and energy of teen girls is absolutely unmatched (just look at the engine behind fandom culture) and being able to harness that metaphorically for a story like this is such a delight. Everything I write focuses on the power of female friendship, and this story is no exception. And what’s better than a morally grey female character? I struggle to think of anything. Cat familiars, maybe? Also, I’m totally a practicing witch now. So maybe if you read this, you’ll find yourself imbued with magical powers, too.*
Artist Lisa Sterle adds, “I can’t wait for people to be re-introduced to The Wicked Trinity! Witches, fashion, and Archie Comics; this is truly a magical trifecta and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to put my own personal stamp on this. I love to create stories in which girls find their own power, both from within themselves and through their friendships and coven. If you’re a fan of my Modern Witch tarot, you’ll find this comic just as magical.”
