Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.

The amount of new Blu-ray releases for this week is just stupid crazy. Even Lionsgate is releasing Blu-rays this week of older titles and that’s something Lionsgate never does! I don’t know where to begin but I’ve got my eye on The Last Dragon!

U.S. Releases

The Walking Dead: The Complete Fifth Season (Starz/Anchor Bay)

Synopsis:
The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the United States in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group’s desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive.

The Last Dragon (Sony Pictures)

Synopsis:
A young man searches for the “master” to obtain the final level of martial arts mastery known as the glow. Along the way he must fight an evil martial arts expert and an rescue a beautiful singer from an obsessed music promoter.

Vampire Hunter D (Sentai Filmworks)

Synopsis:
10,000 years in the future, the world has become a very different place; monsters roam the land freely, and people, although equiped with high tech weapons and cybernetic horses, live a humble life more suited to centuries past. The story focuses on a small hamlet plagued by monster attacks and living under the shadow of rule by Count Magnus Lee, a powerful vampire lord who has ruled the land for thousands of years. When a young girl is bitten by the Count and chosen as his current plaything, she seeks out help of a quiet wandering stranger, D. It so happens that D is one of the world`s best vampire hunters, and he takes it upon himself to cut through Magnus Lee`s many minions, and put an end to the Count`s rule.

Metamorphosis/Beyond Darkness (Scream Factory)

Metamorphosis Synopsis:
Dr. Peter Houseman is a brilliant geneticist who is working on a serum which will stop human aging, but his colleagues don’t believe in his work. When his university funding is threatened by his skeptical benefactors, the doctor takes a desperate measure to justify his work. He administers the serum to himself, but the results are unexpected and horrendous.

Beyond Darkness Synopsis:
A minister and his wife move into a haunted house.

Throne of Blood (Criterion)

Synopsis:
A ruthlessly ambitious lord, egged on by his wife, works to fulfill a prophecy that he would become Emperor.

Play Motel (Raro Video USA)

Synopsis:
A reporter and his girlfriend investigate deaths surrounding a hotel where several prominent people go to have sex.

The Babysitter (Olive Films)

Synopsis:
Alicia Silverstone plays the teenager an entire small town is obsessed with in this suspense tale. What is the reason a married man lusts after her and another woman uses her to fantasize about an affair with a neighbor? When Silverstone’s boyfriend gets involved in a malicious prank, tragic events occur, leading to… Silverstone again!

The Sender (Olive Films)

Synopsis:
A young man has just been admitted to a mental hospital after attempting suicide at a public beach. Unable to remember even his own name, the doctors call him John Doe #83. Soon after his arrival, the doctor assigned to him begins seeing and hearing things around him that have no explanation. Soon he begins to make the terrifying connection between the things he is seeing and his new patient. 

The Revengers (Kino Lorber)

Synopsis:
The life of peaceful rancher John Benedict (William Holden) is torn apart when his family is massacred by a band of marauding outlaws and his ranch destroyed. He assembles a team of mean convicts for his posse to chase down the gang responsible.

Jacob’s Ladder (Linosgate Films)

Synopsis:
Vietnam veteran Jacob Singer is tormented by the vivid memories of war and the heartbreaking death of his son. Demonic visions and hallucinations begin to haunt him day and night, leaving Jacob disturbed and searching for answers. Unsure if he is suffering from post-traumatic stress, dementia, or something paranormal, Jacob finds himself quickly spiraling out of control.

Angel Heart (Lionsgate)

Synopsis:
In the 1950s Brooklyn a seedy PI is hired by a shady client to track down a singer who reneged on a debt. The investigation takes an unexpected and somber turn.

Skin Trade (Magnet)

Synopsis:
After his family is killed by a Serbian gangster with international interests. NYC detective Nick Cassidy goes to S.E. Asia and teams up with a Thai detective to get revenge and destroy the syndicate’s human trafficking network.

Rambo: First Blood Part II (Lionsgate)

Synopsis:
Ex-Green Beret and Vietnam vet John Rambo is sent on assignment back to Southeast Asia to uncover evidence of still missing POWs, and ends up with his hands full when he comes up against Vietnamese soldiers still guarding the camps, the Russian military that oversees them, and the American State department officials who apparently sent him there fully knowing that he’d be taking on a doomed mission.

Rambo III (Lionsgate)

Synopsis:
When Col. Sam Trautman is captured during a top-secret mission in Afghanistan, Rambo erupts into a one-man firestorm to rescue his former commanding officer and decimate the enemy. this intense, heart-pounding adventure boasts unrelenting action and suspense from start to finish.

Sorrow (Brink)

Synopsis:
A couple of depraved killers find themselves in a different situation when the survivor takes matters into her own hands.

U.K. Releases

Eyes Without a Face (BFI Video)

Synopsis:
Based on Jean Redon’s novel this gloomy, atmospheric horror film is a masterpiece of cinematic poetry. After his daughter Christiane becomes horribly disfigured in a car accident of which he was the cause, guilt-ridden plastic surgeon Doctor Genessier grows obsessed with perfecting the reconstruction of her once-beautiful, but now-ravaged, face. With the help of his sadistic nurse Louise, Genessier kidnaps young girls and brings them back to his isolated manse for grisly medical procedures that graft the victims’ living skins onto that of his daughter’s. The film’s nightmarish power springs from the surrealistic beauty of its haunting images–from the fiercely blank mask that shields Christiane’s wounded face to the merciless incisions of Genessier’s surgeries–and a moving climactic scene that garners one of the most transcendent finales in all of cinematic history.

Nightmare City (Arrow)

Synopsis:
TV news reporter Dean Miller waits at the airport for the arrival of a scientist that he is about to interview. There, an unmarked military plane makes an emergency landing. The plane doors open and dozens of zombies burst out stabbing and shooting military waiting outside. Miller tries to let the people know of this event, but General Murchison of Civil Defense will not allow it. Then, Miller tries to find his wife and escape from the blood-thirsty zombies that are all over the city…

A Blade in the Dark (88 Films)

Synopsis:
Bruno is hired to compose the music for a new horror movie and rents an isolated villa to concentrate on his work. But when several beautiful young women are brutally murdered within the house, Bruno becomes obsessed with solving the savage crimes. Is a clue to the killer’s identity hidden within the film itself, or is there a more horrifying secret lurking deep in the dark?

Madman (Arrow)

Synopsis:
At a summer camp for youths, cocky pre-teen calls out the name of mass serial killer “Madman Marz”. Suddenly, counselors are being maimed and slaughtered in various ways by the backwoodsman who has returned when his name was called.

The Town that Dreaded Sundown (Eureka Classics)

Synopsis:
A Texas Ranger hunts for a hooded serial killer terrorizing the residents of a small town, set in 1946 Texarkana. Based on a true story.

The Fog (ELEA-Media)

Synopsis:
A Northern California fishing community, built 100 years ago over an old leper colony, is the target of revenge by a killer fog containing zombies rising from the sea to take revenge for their deaths.

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (Alive)

Synopsis:
In the Iranian ghost-town Bad City, a place that reeks of death and loneliness, the townspeople are unaware they are being stalked by a lonesome vampire.

I Survived a Zombie Holocaust (Alive)

Synopsis:
A young runner, on a zombie film set, has the first day from hell when real zombies overrun the set.

Universal Soldier: Day of the Reckoning (Illusions Unltd)

Synopsis:
John awakens from a coma to discover his wife and daughter were slaughtered in a brutal home invasion. Haunted by images of the attack, he vows to kill the man responsible, Luc Deveraux.
