Scream Factory Announces 1981 Linda Blair Film ‘Hell Night’!

Pray for day.

Linda Blair starred in a handful of horror movies in the wake of The Exorcist making her a household name, and two of them are soon headed to Blu-ray. First up is 1978’s Summer of Fear, directed by Wes Craven, coming in October from Doppelgänger Releasing.

The other is 1981’s Hell Night, just announced by Scream Factory today!

The company is doing a 4K scan of the film from an archival print, with the release date set for December 12. The Blu-ray & DVD combo will be branded as a “Collector’s Edition” that will come with a slipcover. The Producer-approved newly-commissioned artwork comes from artist Justin Osbourn. This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will showcase the original theatrical poster art design.

Extras are still in progress and will be announced sometime in October.

While we wait for more info, check out Osbourn’s new cover art below.

    Hell yes!!!!!!!

I didn’t know Shelley Winters was in Hell Night. Why not use the original poster art?

Scream Factory always commissions new artwork in this style for all of their releases but it’s always printed on a reversible cover featuring the original art on the flip side so you can use that if you prefer.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m so excited for all these old school films to get the Blu-ray treatment. The fact that they’re not going to stay forgotten is great. The younger generation might not appreciate these older films, but I know I do! Keep ’em coming!

I love these old 80s horror movies! I grew up watching them too! Another to add to my collection!

My youngest son (12yrs old) is now showing interests in these movies. We’ve seen Hellraiser 1 & 2, Jeepers Creepers, Dawn Of The Dead (1979), and others. I like that I can show him these movies and he likes them.

That’s so awesome! It truly is! Start ’em young X! Yeah I tried with my daughter and the closest I got was turning her into a ‘Supernatural’ (the show) fan-girl. I guess it’s better than nothing. Now my 9 year old grandchild loves everything Horror. So every other weekend when she comes over to visit she’ll come and ask and my wife gets pissed at me like I’m holding her at gunpoint!

        Who’s your son’s favorite?

        • MrX13

That’s awesome! Right now since my son hasn’t seen much horror movies, he does like Hellraiser alot…haha. What’s your granddaughters favorite? I’m taking him and my niece (13yr old) to see IT tomorrow night, should be awesome!

I tried with my oldest son, who is now 15yrs old, but he just sees them as “dumb” hahaha. I’m hoping to show my youngest son more movies such as Freddy, Jason, and other classic horror movies because he is showing more interests. He has also seen the recent Conjouring and Annabelle movies but I want him to see the classics.

It’s hard to say what my granddaughter’s favorite is cuz she’s only 9, but as long as it’s scary she sits. I catch her in my Horror room sometimes where I have my 182 figures, masks, autographed pictures and posters and everything else that is Horror and all she does is ask “who’s this, who’s that, did you ever meet him/her?” So I can tell she’s going to be a fan. I truly know that cuz her absolute favorite is ghosts and any paranormal show. Even though I catch her hiding her eyes when she gets creeped out or scared she doesn’t run away or have nightmares during the night. Yeah as far as your son if anything get him to like the classics and hopefully it’ll blossom from there.

Did you get to see ‘IT’ yet?

          • MrX13

We did go see IT on Friday night. I took my two boys (12 and 15yrs old) as well as my niece (13yrs old) and they really enjoyed the movie. My youngest now wants to see the original IT (1990) movie so I plan on renting that on Amazon this week.

Nice to hear that your granddaughter is enjoying your horror memorabilia! Wish I had a room like that in my house, oh well, at least my DVD/BluRay is adding up

Necro, so true! i hope Scream Factory does one for HE KNOWS YOU’RE ALONE and

Necro, not sure if you saw my reply regarding THE STRAIN but Eph BETTER FUCKING KILL ZACH!!! lol.

      • Necro

Yeah I was gonna get back to you (obviously). Remember that a ‘sacrifice’ of some kind is required to beat ‘The Master’ according to ‘Professor’ and ‘Eph’ better not kill himself for that little fuck!

        • J Jett

          no worries. 🙂
yeah, i was wondering about the “sacrifice” thing. so maybe Eph sacrifices himself and Zach to make up for his failing as a father which led to Zach setting off the bomb?

  • Brett Lovejoy

THANK THE FUCK CHRIST. I knew this was “confirmed” months back but I worried something had happened when the original October date was shifted, glad it’s now officially confirmed. Never in a million years did I expect to get this on blu-ray.

I know this film is pretty fucking bad but I will always have a soft spot for it just due to seeing it at a young age. I remember it used to scare the crap out of me back when I was like 10 but I watched it later in life and man its pretty hokey!

This will be a nostalgia buy for sure!

  • Munchie

    Finally.

  • J Jett

oh HELL YES!!!….or HELL NIGHT! i love this movie! i hope the extras are good/new. the DVD only had…
    -theatrical trailer
    -tv spots
-audio commentary from Linda Blair and the director & producers.

but either way i like this artwork. i also like the original artwork as well.

Anything with Linda Blair is a guaranteed watch.

    • J Jett

i agree! SAVAGE STREETS is still one of my all time faves!

  • Love this movie

I want Eyes of Fire [1983] in Blu-ray

  • Snap! Even though I’d never watch The Excorcist (in full) I was thinking of Linda Blair not too long ago, she was like the Amanda Bynes of the 70s. I was watching a ton of films she appeared in. She was a great actress for her time. Hell Night! Looks interesting, I’ve never heard of it before. That is another film to add to my list.

Love the art! Just Osbourn is amazing! Reminds me of the new Arrow blu ray cover for The Slayer, but in reverse… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6a429855d9445746f5b42c2f846194d4ffb50b1ef04f187f0105ffa5f0d26eab.png

Sweet. This is one of my favorite slasher flicks from the 80s. I’m amazed that it hasn’t been remade yet.

  • Clark

I love this and all of Linda’s horror flicks. In my opinion she is a seriously underrated scream queen.

  • Simon Allen

Love Love Love this movie ….it’s one of my favourite of the classic slashers .
I’s really atmospheric and although it’s a slasher it has a great “old fashioned” horror movie feel about it and I love Linda Blair she’s such a “nice” girl in this, you really root for her .
Not keen on the artwork at all as the original artwork with Linda at the gates (as illustrated by my friend JJ below) is just so fine .
