New to Blu-ray

Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.

The first week of October is here and it’s a great week to add to your Blu-ray collection! There’s the newest Chucky film, Cult of Chucky, plus a brand-new 7-film boxset containing all the films in the Chucky franchise and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We’ve got 976-Evil, Popcorn, Night of the Living Dead and Fulci’s Don’t Torture a Duckling! Halloween time has officially arrived!

US Releases

Cult of Chucky (Universal, Region A)

Synopsis:
Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions – an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face – a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

Chucky: The Complete 7-Movie Collection (Universal, Region A)

Synopsis:
Complete collection of all 7 Chucky movies.

Popcorn (Synapse, Region A)

Synopsis:
A group of film students plan an all-night horror film festival in order to raise funds for their cinema club. They decide to show a number of (fictional) horror films from the 1950’s that rely on gimmicks such as 3-D, “Odorama”, and electrical “buzzers” in seats. Unbeknownst to the group, a homicidal maniac is stalking the theater where the festival is being held. A filmmaker named Lanyard Gates, who murdered his family during a screening of his only film in the 1970’s, supplies the decoy killer character, since young Maggie may or may not be his missing daughter…

The Suspicious Death of a Minor (Arrow, Region A)

Night of the Living Dead (Mill Creek, Region A)

Synopsis:
A disparate group of individuals takes refuge in an abandoned house when corpses begin to leave the graveyard in search of fresh human bodies to devour.

Don’t Torture a Duckling (Arrow, Region A)

Synopsis:
A Classic Of The Perverse. Several young boys are murdered in a remote village rife with sex and superstition, and the townspeople go mad with rage and violence. But when a hard-nosed reporter and promiscuous young woman search for the true killer, they discover a fiend – and motive – even more shocking than the crimes themselves.

Children of the Corn (Arrow, Region A)

Synopsis:
Young lovers on a cross-country trip stop in a small Nebraska community and make a shocking discovery. One day, three years prior to the couples’ arrival, the town’s children killed all of the grown-ups at the apparent behest of a demon simply dubbed “He Who Walks Behind the Rows.” Based on a short story from horror scribe Stephen King’s “Night Shift” collection, this film spawned a slew of bloody sequels.

They are starving and desperate for food. Initially reluctant to share any, he relents when they offer a night with Milja.
