Argento’s ‘Opera’ Making Blu-ray Debut in 2018; Full Details

Doppelgänger Releasing and Scorpion Releasing have just announced the U.S. Blu-ray debut of Dario Argento’s Opera (1987) on January 23, 2018.

Best known for his work in the horror and thriller genres and regarded as one of the most influential artists of the past half-century, Italian filmmaker Dario Argento’s 1987 cult classic film OPERA will make a fresh new reprise in the new year.

Arriving for the first time on Blu-ray, Doppelgänger Releasing and Scorpion Releasing will present a remastered/restored edition in high definition, with over 45 hours of color correction, brand new 5.1 soundtrack, a brand new interview with actor William McNamara and a never-before U.S. released interview with Dario Argento.

In the film…

“When young opera singer Betty (Cristina Marsillach, Every Time We Say Goodbye) takes over the leading role in an avant-garde presentation of Verdi’s Macbeth, she triggers the madness of a crazed fan who repeatedly forces her to watch the brutal murders of her friends. Will her recurring childhood nightmare hold the key to the identity of this psychopath, or does an even more horrific evil lay waiting in the wings?”

Or, as it was named for us stupid Americans: Terror at the Opera.
Cuz we might have thought it was an actual opera, otherwise.

Much like how the first Harry Potter book was retitled “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” because it was assumed that it’s original title of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” may be a little too highbrow, and Americans may be confused by the word “philosopher”.
Are typical Americans really that dumbed down?

To be honest though, the typical upcoming Brit these days has been dumbed down by about 50% over the last 20 years or so. Anyone would think that perhaps it’s been planned…..

I think Hollywood is just really dumb. But we have our moments, as well.

And Hollywood thinks everyone else is as dumb as them 🙂 .

This is one of his maddest movies (in a good way ) …..watch out for the crazy bird cam shots .
Not to be confused with his version of Phantom of the Opera which is really one of his worst .

This is by far my favourite Argento movie. His last truly great film IMO.
