‘Death Laid an Egg’ is Finally on Blu-ray!

Today marks the Blu-ray/DVD combo release of Giulio Questi’s Death Laid an Egg from Cult Epics. This late 60’s giallo boasts a socio-political message that is more pertinent today than it was when it was first released in terms of its quite modern depiction of the battle of the sexes and the perils of technology. Cult Epics presents the film with its original Italian edit with brand new bonus features. Death Laid an Egg was directed by Questi and stars Jean-Louis Trintignant, Gina Lollobrigida and Ewa Aulin.

“A love triangle develops between three people who run a high tech chicken farm. It involves Anna (who owns the farm), her husband Marco (who kills prostitutes in his spare time) and Gabriella (the very beautiful secretary). Marco continues to kill as jealousy becomes more prevalent on the farm.”

I don’t think that I’ll ‘shell’ out on this. It may be a cracking Blu all told, but unless I see it cheap somewhere, maybe with a coop-on, then I’ll give it a miss.

I’d encourage anyone to bypass this and pick up the forthcoming (region free) UK release from Nucleus Films in January, as it’s a complete restoration from the original negative that has 15 minutes of footage never seen before…
