‘Friday the 13th Part 3’ Documentary Gets Release Date; Will Be FREE!

Documentaries His Name Was Jason and Crystal Lake Memories already dug deep into the Friday the 13th franchise, but this next one is set to shine the spotlight on one of the films rather than the entire series. Cause why not?!

Friday the 13th Part 3: The Memoriam Documentary will pay tribute to the late Richard Brooker, who played Jason Voorhees in the third installment.

Today we’ve learned that the doc will be released on January 13, 2018. Best of all, it’ll be uploaded to YouTube channel Friday the 13th Network for the low cost of FREE.

Check out the trailer below.

Director Kevin R. Phipps explained last year, “In April 2013, the Friday the 13th family suddenly lost Mr. Richard Brooker. Portraying Jason in Friday the 13th part 3, he was the first individual to don the now iconic hockey mask. Richard was a terrific human being & a friend to all. In addition, the Higgins Haven cabin used in the film was burned down by some careless vagrants in 2006. These two events sparked us into action to do something with the one of a kind on location video footage we shot from 2003 & 2005.

He continued, “The project has grown leaps and bounds over the past year & continues to bring on board various Friday the 13th alumni that starred in part 3 as well friends of Richard’s that are still working in the film industry today. Their interviews are pivotal in giving the backstory of the production of part 3 as well as insight into the man Richard Brooker was. This documentary’s intentions are to preserve the memory of this movie & Richard Brooker.”

      Freeday The 13th.

        Double plus good!

  • The Night King

What I really want from this documentary is a long over due, serious, in depth examination of Shelly’s afro.

    • Saturn

You mean close ups using the most modern tech, to see if there actually is that rumoured secret hidden nazi base hiding within?
I know some people think the ancient aryans theory that the nazi’s fled Europe after the war, using Die Glocke as a time machine and shrink ray, to wait and plan in Shelly’s afro is pure poppycock. But I’ve seen enough evidence to make me believe that it is actually a possibility….

his afro really does deserve it’s own solo documentary. it’s now considered the 8th wonder of the world. 🙂

Ok, fuck it, I’m taking the day off.

    Day one purchase.

Watched all Fridays repeatedly over the years, 3 remains my fav. Gorgeous female cast, the punks, Shelley obviously, and my favorite Jason.

The moment where he appears in the mask, shoots Vera, then drops the harpoon gun like it’s a mic? Seriously, do yourself a favor, watch that scene again. Then he walks off like no fucks given. Brooker’s J was on some pimp shit. Somebody should dub some Curtis Mayfield into that scene. “Freddie’s Dead” might be appropriate..

That was Richard’s idea too for Jason to throw the spear gun down like he didn’t give a shit. Very cool touch.

      • Vesuvian Villain

Was that in this documentary? Shit I’ve gotta see this thing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him discuss it before.

        • Flu-Like Symptoms

I believe it was in the Crystal Lake Memories doc, maybe on the bonus disc I think. I’d be surprised if it weren’t covered in the new one though.

Easily – for me anyway – the BEST entry in the entire franchise. It’s the one I watch the most, and always has been my fave. My top 5 in the series are: 3,5,1, 2, 6

    • Saturn

For me I reckon it’s 6,4 (running a very close second, so much so I’d probably consider them equal for differing reasons),2,1,3,FvJ,5,7,X,Remake, JGTH,8

Even though 8 is way down the bottom I still can have a good time watching it – but I find beer helps.

i too very much like part 5! i think you and i are in the minority on that though. LOL. my fave F13’s are….
part 2, part 4, the 2009 remake/reboot, part 1, and parts 3 & 5 are tied. i really didn’t like any of the F13’s once Jason became “zombie” Jason (although i used to like part 8 since it was Jason VS. Carrie White. lol).

      • Necro

        That was part 7 J

        • J Jett

          oh, oops! thanx Necro. 🙂

          • Necro

No worries! You’re Welcome J! Maybe you’re onto something there, part 8 would’ve been better had it had an idea like that.

    • 0Father0Satan0Sun

I always thought part 2, 3 and 6 were all fantastic, despite critics’ hatred for them. I don;t mind reviews but I thought part 2, 3 and 6 stories were all on points. Of course, they’re campy but that’s what it is. Cheers!
