SNOWPIERCER_4

With Radius-TWC finally releasing Bong Joon-ho’s alleged masterpiece, Snowpiercer, in theaters on June 27, they have now provided us with an official ket set of stills for you to shoot through. Expect an official poster and trailer any day now!

It is rumored that U.S. audiences will be treated to the original cut, which had caused a rift between director in studio over the past year.

The film takes place, “In a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off most life on the planet, a class system evolves aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine.

Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Octavia Spencer, Alison Pill, Song Kang-ho, Ewen Bremner, and Kenny Doughty all star.

I finally caught this movie and I actually really enjoyed it. I liked how each time they progressed through a train car, a new threat would emerge. It loosely reminded me of Dredd and it gave off video game vibes to me.

‘alleged’ masterpiece is right! after hearing so many gushing reviews about this film I finally watched it and it has become hands-down my nominee for the worst film I have seen in the last 12 months! The concept is totally illogical and only acts as a flimsy set-up for the film’s heavy-handed and pretentious (yet totally obvious and unoriginal) political message. The international star cast (especially Evans) do their best with wafer-thin characterisation (this despite the film’s tediously unnecessary 2 and a half hour length). It’s visually dreary, dramatically uninvolving and even individual scenes and revelations (ex. a ‘twist’ involving weapons, a torture/punishment) fail to make sense any way you shake them.

Having seen it I can finally understand why Harvey Weinstein is having trouble figuring out how to market and release Snowpiercer, to the point at which he’s thinking of cutting it down in length. It’s not only dumb-pretending-to-be-smart-and-imporatant but also about as boring as freezing to death.

I wouldn’t recommend anyone wasting a single minute of their lives on this crap. Seriously.

Hmmm, what part of this movie is Horror? It looks like a grungy action/sci fi movie to me.

This movie is probably one of the most entertaining movies I’ve seen in years (though I have to say the last few years have been kinda crap). It’s perfectly balanced between shocking and hilarious, the style is great, the actors are well cast (Tilda is awesome). The plot is kinda predictable, but more in a way that they did things the way I wanted them to do, while it still had a lot of those ‘what the hell’-moments. I guess this movie is more like an 80s movie. Happy newyear!
