While Turbo Kid was set in an alternate apocalyptic 1997, the filmmakers collective of François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell are rewinding a little further back in time with a more realistic look in Summer of  ’84, which will hold its world premiere at this coming January’s Sundance Film Festival.

Sounding like a modern take on The ‘Burbs, the film takes place in the summer, 1984: a perfect time to be a carefree 15-year-old. But when neighborhood conspiracy theorist Davey Armstrong begins to suspect his police officer neighbor might be the serial killer all over the local news, he and his three best friends begin an investigation that soon turns dangerous.

“Mad Men’s” Rich Sommer and “Riverdale’s” Tiera Skovbye star in the film, alongside Graham VerchereJudah LewisCaleb Emery, and Cory Gruter-Andrew.

Here are a ton of new images from the summer of 1984…

Turbo Kid was such a badass movie! So I am looking forward to this movie from the same people that made TK.
