Clive Barker’s ‘Jacqueline Ess’ Gets Big Screen Treatment!

Updated with Canes sales art: Laid to Rest and “Game of Thrones” actress Lena Headey will star in the movie version of horror icon Clive Barker’s Jacqueline Ess, Variety reports.

Jovanka Vuckovic will make her feature debut. Her credits include short film “The Captured Bird” from exec producer Guillermo del Toro, and the all-female horror anthology XX.

Vuckovic will direct from a script she co-wrote with Christian Francis.

“Jacqueline Ess is the story of a woman who, in her thirst for change, achieves the ability to transform people’s bodies at will.

It originally appeared in Barker’s “Books of Blood” anthologies, which also included the stories that were basis for the horror films Lord of Illusions and Candyman.

Raven Banner Entertaintment and Barker’s Seraphim Films are producing. Raven Banner will be selling the film, set to go into production late this year, at Cannes.

Woah, creepy; I just finished reading this story last night. Could make for an interesting movie–though I wonder how deep they’ll get into the sexuality of it.

      What is the story about?

      • Vadicta

A woman gets mind powers, which she uses to kill people and have sex… basically.

        • Cheshire TrollCat

          Sounds dumb as fuck…

          • Zaq Minor

your ignorance to the subject matter sounds “dumb as fuck”…the pain that woman feels within the story is more than the pain she inflicts on to her victims. accidental or not…

        • Zaq Minor

kill people while having sex… kind of looses control when she comes.. and bends their bones and back backwards effectivly folding them on to themselves to death.. a dangerous black widow..

    • Zaq Minor

i hope they lay every single bloody indiscretion miss ess lays bare to those men..i am in need of a decent body horror film…fifty shades of hellraiser… LMAO..

      • Vadicta

I would love that–though it could become a supernatural horror about an irresistable woman as well. So, I’m keeping my excitement tempered for now.
