Another religious cult movie is in the pipeline, this time from the creator of Final Destination.
Updated with Cannes sales art, Mischa Barton (pictured; “The OC”), Drew Fuller (“Army Wives”), Katie Parker (Absentia) and Dredd executive producer Adi Shankar are set to star in Cloudland, a supernatural thriller coming together under the oversight of Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick, TheWrap reports.
“The story follows a young journalist (Fuller) who investigates a religious cult’s terrifying prophecy after the paranormal murder of his younger sister (Parker).“
Barton will play Fuller’s editor and love interest, while Shankar (pictured above) will play an intimidating member of the cult.
Reddick created the project and will share story credit with Alex Bram, who will make his feature directorial debut with Cloudland. Bram also co-wrote the script with Martin Aguilera. Reddick will oversee production.
VFX company PRPVFX (Evil Dead) will bring the script’s surreal elements to life, while Mark Lanza (Independence Day) will handle sound design for Cloudland, which starts production this fall in Los Angeles.
