[Interview] ‘Chronicle’ Director Josh Trank Talks ‘Akira’, Combining Blockbuster Filmmaking With Found Footage!

In theaters this Friday from Twentieth Century Fox is Chronicle . In the film, “Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.

The film, directed by Josh Trank, doesn’t falter on its promise to deliver a new twist on the superhero genre. Even though it takes the “found footage” approach, it easily competes with the big boys of summer in terms of pure, raw spectacle. I recently had a chance to talk with him via Skype about the project and how he delivered on this unique vision.

My review is coming soon, but if I had to sum it up – this film does not fail to deliver on the trailers. It’s not perfect, but it’s something you should definitely check out.

Also interviewed are the film’s stars Dane Dehaan, Michael B. Jordan and Alex Russell. Hit the jump to check it out!
