  • Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel - Prometheus (2012)

Was originally intended as a prequel to Ridley Scott's Alien (1979), but Scott decided to turn it into an original film with Noomi Rapace (who was already set to star in the prequel) still in the cast as one of five main characters. Some time later however, it was confirmed that the movie will take place in the same universe as Alien (1977), it will greatly reference that movie, but it will, for the bigger part, be an original movie and not a direct prequel.

'Alien' is a truly great film. An all time classic sci-fi horror, which hasn't dated hardly in the slightest. I can't see any reason to remake this at all!

      I can: $$$$$

Seriously, I don't mind this at all. The director is a commercial director with some potential (he made that creepy dancing robot Heineken commercial) and its being produced by the Scott bros.

If it sucks you always have the original. The more horror the better!

That sucks even though its gonna be a origns story.
Which means where the Aliens are from.

Tony Scott is producing it so there might be some hope but yet again they want a new director that has been doing music videos which seems like a FAIL.

This is where we find out that the Aliens are from an abusive family and that they were really only trying to find someone to love them all along!

Also: Sheri Moon is the original Alien queen.

Hey man, it's a business. The sooner you except that and stop seeing the trash and instead focus on cool shit like Drag me to Hell the easier it'll be.
                    Fixed that up for ya.

Yeah, at the end of the day the film industry is a business; every film ever made in the history of celluloid, was made to make money.

But there are films that are more than just money makers; they are hight art, made by talented auteur directors with a personal vision. These filmmakers are filming their unique imaginations to share with everybody else on the planet. 'Alien' is a astonishing piece of motion picture art, made by Ridley Scott; one of the most creative, dynamic and innovative directors of his generation. The film deserved to be a commercial success and make loads of mula, as it should be seen by everybody.

I just find rebooting yet another classic, with the obvious hope of a potential franchise of endless sequels and merchandise, to be soulless. But, as you say, it's a business; there is fuck all we moviegoers can do about out!

Maybe, just maybe, it'll be goof. You never know, and we'll always have the original. I'd rather have a reboot then another stupid fucking sequel.

BTW - Ridley Scott ain't all that great. He made back to back classics with Alien and Blade Runner and a ton of crap after that.

I not seen any of his other movies apart from those 2.
If he can keep some of his original vision in the remake then it has to be at least a ok movie instead of being shite.
