You know what Will Double, I apologize for pidgeon-holing you. That was uncalled for. But you must realize that when you make an ignorant statement like you did before you're going to get verbally abused. That's just the nature of the beast. Again, I apologize.

        7.5?

N2N did you really go to film school and did you really say that makes you educated? Your kidding me right.

Plus I said that people like this movies to prove how smart they are and you responded with a post about how smart you are. Can you people stop proving my point for me or do you want to keep trying to show everyone how great you are because you "understood" some horror movie again.

WE GET IT! Your smart because you can regurgitate something you read on the internet about Tale of Two Sisters. You got my vote for president.

Oh it's all in good fun. I wouldn't say these things if I wasn't open for being attacked back. I just like pushing N2N's buttons. I have no hate for you or anybody on this board.

I sure do and it sure does. Let me ask you this then. Why would this be wrong? Please tell me why I shouldn't consider myself educated because I go to film school.

Who set up this so called pedistal that we are all trying to stand on?...Allow me to retort in a way you will understand...

Sorry dipshit, but calling people out for applying intelligence to a discussion and analyzing a movie is about as moronic as you can get...

WE GET IT! Your smart because you can regurgitate something you read on the internet about Tale of Two Sisters. You got my vote for president.
I love these bated statements...So everyone...If you can discuss this movie in detail and not use words like "it sucked" or "it ruled!" then you are obviously regurgitating something you MUST have read on the internet...

Will, don't be mad at the rest of us that choose not to be ignorant...That's the hand you were dealt...

From now on, in order to gain "street cred" I will only use words with no more than 2 syllables...Shit that was 3...

And why would you want to push someone's buttons?...Unless you are, again, either incredible infantile or an infant...

Kid, I don't even know why you would check this out. You knew this wasn't going to be your cup of tea. From all the praise that has been dished out about this flick, you should have been able to deduce that this would not be for you. At least you got it pretty cheap!! I wish I had paid that price!

As for myself, I personally love this movie. My praise comes not from the "ghost" factor, or it's ability to supersize my brain as I have read from the flame war going on, but from the fact that it is an extremely well made movie. From start to finish it doesn't rush things, it just allows the story to run it's course. Too many movies suffer from what I like to call "show me now, worry later" syndrome. This movie took it's time and was all the better for it. Great movie with multiple views in mind.

I recommend this to anyone that I think would like it. I would never recommend this to Kidd, because I know him and this isn't his cup of tea. Give him a more traditional horror film, which isn't a bad thing, and that isn't a slam whatsoever. This movie is geared more toward those that like to pick apart films, and hold discussions about them afterward. If this is what you consider "wanting to prove your smarter" mr Will, then so be it. I love shitburger films as much as the next guy, and pry more than you, but I can appreciate something as well done as this film and not get my dick all tied in a knot. I wish people would get over themselves and just talk about the film.

The bedroom scene was so frickin' creepy, to me!

Obviously if you want to talk about the movie in depth that means that you are trying to prove your intelligence rather than the movie offering something to actually discuss...

I'm staying out of all the other bullshit because it's total garbage.

Great post Bishop. I agree with most of what you said. I do agree this is a very well made film. The atmosphere was creepy at times, the acting was good, and it was very stylistic. But those things are not as high on my list than obviously alot of people in this thread. I appreciate movies that entertain me. I don't want to watch a movie and then debate with other internet movie geeks the hidden messages and mysterious scenes for weeks on end. If people who do feel like they are smarter than the rest, then so be it. Pat yourself on the backs all high and mighty rocket scientists.

If I knew this was going to be another Mulholland Drive psychobabble artsy fartsy flick I would never have bought it (like Bishop said). Well, I didn't know. I expected something like Ringu or The Grudge with a different spin. It didn't happen and contrary to the geniuses who think they nailed every single scene as 100% fact the first time watching it, my inferior caveman brain came to several of the same conclusions. But unlike you, I'm not entertained by sitting around after the credits roll and wondering if what I thought happened really happened. That's not entertaining, that's annoying.

My fav Asian horror flicks are still Ringu, Verses, and Battle Royale. A Tale of Two Sisters? You egomaniacal Einsteins can keep that shit and remain on your intellectual high horses.

So the first three Asian horror films you've ever seen are still your favourites? You strike me as the type of person who can't get over things you see for the first time, you see something new and you're stuck with it forever. It's forever the best, this traces back to you and the 80's, 80's films, and only 80's films. The 80's are the best, because that's what you saw first, that's what you're stuck with. This may not be absolute, but it's true most of the time, and certainly occurs often enough to label it a condition.

I don't even understand your "hate" or "frustration". You've admitted it's very well made, with creepy atmosphere, good acting, and stylistic direction. You just didn't get any enjoyment out of it, you weren't entertained like you wanted to be. Which is fine, by why ask people what they found so good about it with a puzzled look on your face? You know yourself what makes it good, you know why others would find it good, so this whole thread seems like an attempt to argue for no reason.

As for the film itself, I've talked about it, posted about it, written reviews about it (for this site), so I won't go over old territory. Though let me say that I loved it, it is the best Asian horror film I've seen thus far, it's a great film that transcends genre. It is a hell of a lot better than Ring, Dark Water, and The Grudge. I was incredibly entertained and it weaves such an intricate and interesting story that I was glued to the screen for the whole running time. It also has some of the creepiest, and scariest, scenes I've seen in quite some time. Check it out if you haven't already.

                          BINGO.

he gets joy out of being condescending toward people who like "artsy fartsy" films. WIL Double stole his thunder, or otherwise he'd have played the "elitist card" as he usually does.

Awesome...Since when is understanding a movie a bad thing?...And who is this a bad thing to?...

Yet you did it with The Ring...
