While most movie critics have been saying how violent and offensive it is, I was like nothing while watching it. I suppose I've reached the limit where it takes much more than just rape, graphic violence, necrophilia, pedophilia... for a film to actually disturb me. Afterall, yes I can see why this film would be shocking to some...

Why exactly does everyone feel the need to keep detailing various scenes?

Fine, it's shocking. Let those who want to see the movie find out for themselves what happens.

Okay i've juste seen the movie because of all the noises and talks around it and on the fact it's " THE shocking movie , with torture porn " etc ..
In fact i don't know what to think about it , yes it's shocking , no problem about that , but there is not a lot of things about reflexion and psychology , Srdjan Spasojevic listing violence on his movie like essential on it to communicate his message "the violence shown on screen was necessary to bring the country's history and troubles he goes through" , i said YES because of the scene
with the birth and rape of the baby
: like if we are fucked from the birth by this system , the little girl and actresses who enter in this system for money etc ...but the movie does not express as much depth and the reality of the country as i was thinking (I mean by this that we could give that crowns to a good number of gore movies in this case).
There is that question on the art that arises, is it art? What are the limits of art? Is this a renewal, a "porn newborn"? etc. ... (This issue also arises in the movie 'Martyrs' and I found still more sensitive for this question ).
THE shocking scene for me is probably the final scene,
the family rape .
But yes I liked the movie overall, but it is not close enough to the characters psychology and feelings. The music is nice and well worked !
          love the ending !

ps: can add an other Girl as spectator for the movie haha !

The director said THAT scene was a metaphor and I personally didn't find it shocking at all b/c the baby or the mother's belly couldn't look more fake.

watched it just yesterday and liked it.
              My review:

One of the most discussed movies of the year, mainly because of its shocking brutality including violent rape, extremely violent kills and paedophilia. No, it's not a movie that I recommend. It's gruesome, highly disturbing and full of scenes that will probably make many people vomit - however, if you love disgusting shockers like "Irreversible" or "Cannibal Holocaust", you'll probably love this one too, especially because it's not only brutal: there's a pretty good cast and some superb dialogue, the cinematography is stunning, the hard industrial soundtrack is impressive and the whole brilliantly-paced build-up (slow in the beginning, weird in the middle, sick and shocking in the end) is just excellent.
Overall, a gross and nasty, but also intelligent and thought-provoking film. I would really like to see more of this kind.
              8/10

I just finished watching this movie at 4am this morning and I loved it. There where shocking parts but I think that if you have seen a lot of the disturbing films than this film wont bother you to much. But like I said it is an amazing film and don't think it get the credit it deserves. Most fucked up idea ever seen in a film is 'Newborn Porn', the baby did looked fake but how can you really tell when there's so much fucking blood all over it. I absolutely love the scene in which he
decapitates the girl that's chained to the bed and continues fucking her without a head.
Great Film 5 Skulls.

Hahaha it didn't do anything for me either, i just laughed. Talk about a great scene to have one of your family/friends to walk in on. lol

I saw the end coming from a mile away with the brother, but I didn't expect the part with his son. That was quite disturbing.

Use your spoilers I agree with Caustic Coffee stop running the movie for others. But ya I knew it was
the son and mother lying there just because the difference in the length of body compared to each other and the fact that he doesn't know where his family is currently located
caused suspension in me. Really fucked up though.

Most Disturbing Film I've Ever Seen

                      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1273235/

I've seen a lot of movies that challenged me. Ichi the Killer is an over the top somewhat unnecessarily so look at desensitized society and over-sensitized humanity.

Flower of Flesh and Blood delves into a man's perverse idea of Buddhism and freeing the soul through the gates of the body through the artistic representation of blossoms of blood.

Visitor Q was just too weird for me to really analyze on one time viewing.

But what I'm saying is I've seen a lot of crazy movies and been able to understand their deeper message. The sense of walking through a blazing fire comes to mind when witnessing these movies, a scene can be like a blast of searing hot air on your face. It burns away the illusions, the dross, the distance between the viewer and the film, that's where the emotional response lives, underneath the comfort layers.

A Serbian Film not only achieved all of this, but it also had a profound message about family, what we do to ourselves and others, convention and madonna complex, violence and pleasure.

This is a film that given the chance will leave you thinking for a long time. About how you treat yourself and others, and what atrocities we allow to go on unabated in our world for the sake of security.

Intensely graphic yet not entirely over the top, content-wise it's insane to watch, and the only director who has ever come close to this kind of content coupled with a message I would say is Miike. Salo to me showed a lot of similarities, but really failed due to just being an intensely boring film.

A Serbian Film will continue long after the movie is over, in your mind...

Amazing movie really. I honestly don't know how I would rate it, it defies any rating system.

                            Just watched this.

It's up there in my "most sick and twisted movies ever seen" category. Some pretty heavy shit, some great and intense scenes. The climax (pun haha) was the most shocking and definitley more than your average "oh shit!" audience moment. The ending was sad and sort of expected, but somewhat beautiful in a cinema sense.

Overall I'd rate it an 8/10 because I really liked it and thought it was well done and downright disturbing. I know it's only a movie, so I did not feel bad about laughing through some of the parts and kicking on my sick fuck sense of humor. I know people would probably judge me if they watched it with me though.

Agreed, this movie was far more moving than I expected it to be. There was a lot that went into the script, very good movie, but some will simply not get over the visuals.

I'll give it a 7/10. It loses points for including several self-defeating video montages, making a drugged-up protag and his wife look like Rambo and Rambette in its climax, and underdeveloping the "other" producer (which affected the final scene).
