Darren Lynn Bousman will be directing the remake of David Cronenberg’s 1981 film Scanners. Bousman is a busy man, if you caught Saw IV like almost every one did this past weekend then you were watching his work, and he just finished up the horror musical Repo! The Genetic Opera! He initially refused to take on the project for Dimension films out of respect to Cronenberg’s work, however he now states it will be his next project after putting finishing touches on Repo!

The remake will be going off of a David Goyer script; the writer of the Blade series as well as director of Blade 2 and The Invisible. Dimension has set the release date as October 17th 2008.

theres actually 4 sequels as to there is a spin off called Scanner Cop and SC 2 (which i have) as to the sequel it is basically another sequel because it talks about the first one. its decent with some gory kills.

I remember seeing Scanners 3 years ago, never the second, though. Are they worth a second look? I really enjoyed the original.

Cronenberg is one of the best directors working today.

The movie is actually rather slow going at times and the lead good guy's performance is wooden, but it's still a very effective film.

^not always, on some rare occasions i think my comp like slows down so i hit 'back' and it will go back to the post option with all the stuff typed and it doesnt show up so i hit post again and presto a double post without waiting.
