    Updated list:

    Ginger Snaps I & III
    The Host
    Hostel I & II
    [REC]
OldBoy/Park's Revenge Trilogy (not horror, but deserves mention)
    Battle Royale (see above)
    Shaun of the Dead
    Imprint (MoH)
    Jennifer (MoH)
    Pelts (MoH)
    Sick Girl (MoH)
    The Others
    Frailty
    Haute Tension
    The Descent
    Dog Soliders
    The Mist
    Let The Right One In
    A Tale of Two Sisters
    Grindhouse
    The Devil's Backbone
    Pan's Labyrinth
    Dawn of the Dead
    Friday the 13th
    Session 9
    Slither
    Cloverfield
    28 Days/Weeks
    May
    Final Destination I & II
    Sweeny Todd
    III Extremes
    Martyrs
    The Ring
    Hatchet
    American Pyscho (good eye, BRB)
    The Cell

No particular order, but these are about all the horror of the 00's that I enjoyed on at least some level.

I don't think we can consider the 00's to be such a bad decade for horror - it's just that there's been a ton of drek to wade thru to find the gooduns. I still await the inevitable buckle of the hollywood horror industry - notice only two or three remakes get any love here.

I'm a sucker for gothic horror and that one just delivers completely. It's paced like an old Universal horror movie (But a little faster) and just fills the 60 minute running time perfectly. It also looks amazing for a tv movie, and Comb's performance is perfect. Then you have the surrealist dipping in and out of biographical and adaption. I love it. It just evokes everything I like about 30s and 40s horror. And I've always considered Combs an actor born at the wrong time. Two decades earlier and he would've been another Vincent Price.

Better than the last anyway. It's just a shame that there's such emphasis on the franchise movies/remakes.

True... is it more a thriller or drama than horror?

I can promise you a kicking.
But I love your butter cookies. Send me some.

Sherri Moon is, without a doubt, the weakest part of TDR.

...and I am one of the sinners who enjoy the cheesiness that is House of 1000 Corpses. It's a horrible movie, but so much fun.

With that said, The Devil's Rejects is 10 times better and it did show the potential that Zombie had...then he screwed up and made Halloween.

            Ah well...

            Butter cookies?

              Danish! Pastries too.
To be honest, and I might take some stick - I thought she was the best thing in Halloween.
I feel sick saying that, but she wasnt too bad.

Yeah, she wasn't horrible. The three lead chicks killed that movie for me.

(I don't hate it as much as most people here, though)

I offer up The Cell (2000) , but I'll leave it up to the majority to decide if that's the last good horror of the 90's or the first of the 2000s. Some folks may not consider it horror at all, so again; what's the consensus?

Also, Willard (2003) and The Signal (2007).

It's another good call.. I really enjoyed The Cell. Personally I view it as a thriller. But has a number of elements.

It's good to see noone's mentioned Hard Candy.

                    Oh wait...

I'll add it, it's not horror per se, but I'm trying to compile all the quality horror genre films of the 00's, and The Cell makes the cut.

Hard Candy counts as horror as much as American Psycho or The Cell, except it was a bad movie.

I felt the same way about Chucky as I did about the chick in Hard Candy. It wouldn't be too hard to just pick the bitch up, and throw her in the fireplace

Bad movie? There's no way it was bad in any sense.
I enjoyed it quite a bit. You said you liked Hostel... didnt you?

I hate that movie with a passion. I almost miss N2N. He'd always get his panties in a bunch when someone dissed this flick.

Fuck me. That's definitely in my top 3 of the 00's. I see it more as a black comedy/horror comedy, but same goes with Shaun of the Dead.

                            Improved list...TOP 12:

                            Session 9
                            The Mist
                            American Psycho
                            Haute Tension
                            [Rec]
                            Inside
                            Planet Terror
                            The Devil's Rejects
                            Shaun of the Dead
                            The Hills Have Eyes
                            28 Days Later
                            Cloverfield

Damn, it's hard to even remember the last 9 years of horror films! From what I recall, here's my favorites:

                              Frailty
                              Cabin Fever
                              The Descent
                              High Tension
                              The Hills Have Eyes
Bug (I consider The Tenant and Repulsion to be horror and this follows suit)
                              The Gift
                              28 Days Later
American Psycho (though I consider it comedy)
                              Wolf Creek
                              Inside
                              The Host
                              Slither
                              Halloween
                              Hostel 2
                              Rogue
Jeepers Creepers (was tough putting this one in, but i feel it deserves it)
                              Bruiser
                              Bubba Ho-tep
I'm sure I missed some good ones... ah well

                              So bad...but surprisingly entertaining:

                              Jason X
                              Day of the Dead
                              Black Christmas
                              House of Wax

Here's the ones that pissed me off:

                              Entire Saw franchise
                              All TCM "reimaginings"
Cloverfield for being an awesome concept, but shitty movie
                              I Am Legend
                              The Hills Have Eyes 2
                              28 Weeks Later
                              Land of the Dead
                              The Devil's Rejects
