• Just got back from a packed showing of Evil Dead, and wow what a showing it was. I had high expectations for this film and I gotta say that it delivered on what I was hoping it would do....and that's entertain the fuck out of me. I enjoyed pretty much every aspect of this movie, the only place I feel it lacked was in the character development for David, Olivia and Natalie. Also, while the gore was top notch, it wasn't as extreme as I initially thought it was going to be.... but it was still pretty rad.

If I had to give this movie a score, it'd be a 8/10. I loved it.

Mia and Eric were definitely the best characters.

      • Just got back from the matinee. While the film's not perfect, there's a lot that I liked. The last 15 minutes in particular were great. I'd give it an 8/10.
Groovy.
I knew you would be enthralled.
How was the crowd? Did they cheer and scream like there is no tomorrrow?
"I want this place to go nuts, north, south, east, west, left, right! Activate this dance floor!!"

The crowd I saw it with was going bonkers. They would laugh, cheer, scream and they even applauded a number of times. It was definitely the best crowd I've EVER had the pleasure of seeing a horror flick with.

              • Most hilarious line in the film was when Mia was in the cellar and said to David:
Come on down and let me suck your cock pretty boy....YOUR SISTER BURNS IN HELL!!!

That line could be used verbatim in the porn parody Evil Head.
That might've been my favorite part of the movie.
I like how with the Abomination, Mia got to fight an evil version of herself, just like Ash with Evil Ash.

I'm surprised the severed arm didn't try to attack anyone.
• I really enjoyed it, but didn't "love it"

It did a number of things in different ways than the original that come off really well, and a handful of things that were kind meh.

It was a bit soulless at times. It hits the ground running and I felt like it I should be knowing and realizing things that they didn't put the support in place for.

Lots of nods to the other films. It's like they drew a lot of little things from the whole original series. I liked the use of the red dress as a nod to AoD. If they really do bring the this and the original series together, then the way they rearranged as if this is an alternate universe worked well IMO.

Overall it was quite good, but 0.5-1 points behind any rated you'd give the original I'd think.

And tons of gore too, this movie is not for armature horror fans, you'd best have a few bloody movies under your belt before seeing this.
I met her, fifteen years ago; I was told there was nothing left; no reason, no conscience, no understanding; and not even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this cow, with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and the blackest eyes... the devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach her, and then another seven trying to keep her locked up because I realized that what was living behind that cow's eyes was purely and simply... evil.

Yeah, they might just be saving some stuff for the 2nd and 3rd movies if they make them rather that put the best of each film all in the first one

                          • Am I the only one who didn't like
the introduction? I honestly thought it was unnecessary. It would've been creepier if they found the book and all the dead animals in the cellar without an explanation.
• I know i'm gonna get greif over this, but I enjoyed this film more than Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness. The original Evil Dead is still 1,000,000 times better than this one though.

I still like both The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II more than this, but the remake is better than Army of Darkness (which I also like).
The Abomination is one of my favorite Evil Dead monsters now, though. I like how there is always a lead Deadite in each film. Here is how I would rank them:

Cheryl (Original) > Abomination (Remake) > Henrietta (Evil Dead II) > Evil Ash (Army of Darkness)
