  • The Rite

Inspired by true events, The Rite follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins) , who introduces him to the darker side of his faith. Directed by Mikael Hafstroem (140, The Rite is a supernatural thriller that uncovers the devil's reach to even one of the holiest places on Earth.

Trailer 2 is the good one. Hopkins at 1:55 is downright creepy. Definitely looks good.

Quite frankly, the trailer kicks major butt! Seems that Anthony is equally creepy and devastating like in his parade role in The Silcence Of The Lambs. He looks astonishingly chilling. This film is on my list, will surely check it out as soon as it hits theaters. Maybe the story isn't that new and groundbreaking, but Hopkins will surely deliver again the goods and maybe even the gods.

This will be a rental for me unless it gets killer reviews.

I love Hopkins but the film looks a bit recycled.

This looks great, i saw the trailer for it with Saw7.
theres a line in it that really strikes me, its something along the lines of "you spend your life looking for proof, question is what are you going to do when you find it"
as i said....looks awsome cant wait

This movie looks extremely bad to me, it looks like typical hollywood cheese. I'll definitely pass on seeing it, unless it gets very very good word of mouth (chance of that being close to 0 in my opinion).

I actually forgot this was out the past Friday, that's how dull it looks. I'll see it nonetheless. Review score up shortly-should be.

This movie will not be scary to anyone who has ever seen any movie about exorcism. It is pretty tame in comparison to everything else I've seen. I love Anthony Hopkins, but I even liked The Last Exorcism more than The Rite.

So, the wife, and I saw the movie. It was 'okay'. Hopkins is great as always, however, most of the reviews are pretty much dead on. Kind of a bummer. Such is, I guess.

"The Rite"....Pretty damn good thriller. Spooky atmosphere, chilling music score, solid direction, and a strong screenplay. Anthony Hopkins as "Father Lucas" and the very suave and handsome Colin O'Donoghue as "Michael" are both wonderful and delivered strong performances, especially Hopkins with his possession scenes. The exorcisms with the pregnant woman(Rosaria) were both chilling and devastating. Not to mention shocking moments with the nails and the testing of a person's faith. I totally enjoyed the movie.

                          7/10

I enjoyed for the most part despite it being pretty cheesey. The possession scenes were pretty good..
