I really want to watch this one. I like the concept, and I've got nothing against the found footage style.

        Just watched it.

It's my favorite horror movie of the year. The tension in the stories really worked and I was on the edge of my seat a few times. WATCH THIS AT NIGHT!

I wish the trailer didn't show so many moments from the movie, because in all honesty, it kind of spoils it.

I'll give a non-spoilery synopsis of each story.

        0. The wraparound story. Four thieves are getting paid to enter a house to grab a VHS tape. These thieves are the worst. The concept itself is a pretty smart way to show the five segments and it ended in a satisfactory way. I just wish they showed more of a psychological edge to it.

        1. Amateur Night - This segment is certainly my favorite. A bunch of guys go out to get laid, one of them has a hidden camera in his glasses to 'totally film a porn, dude!". This was very well acted, particularly the creepy girl in the bar. "I like you" has never sounded so wrong before.

        2. Second Honeymoon - A married couple travel to see the Grand Canyon, and shenanigans happen at the hotel. This story had a pretty decent payoff at the end and a great "holy crap!" moment. It seemed completely out of the blue, but there were clues in the story that led to that ending.

        3. Tuesday the 17th - A girl brings her three friends to a lake for a getaway. Some bad stuff happens at the lake. This is definitely an homage to slasher flicks (hence the title) and I liked the gory aspects of it. It might be the weakest addition to the film, but I personally really enjoyed it. The acting by the lead actress definitely fizzled by the end, which was disappointing.

        4. The Strange Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger - This is the segment as told through Skype between a girl and her boyfriend. The girl feels like she's being haunted in her new apartment, but somehow it seems familiar to her. Definitely had some of the scariest moments in the whole film. It also leaves you scratching your head, but after I figured it out, it made me love this segment even more. It was quite intelligent.

        5. Halloween? Not sure of the title - This is a haunted house story. And this haunted house is AWESOME! It was very fast paced with a good sense of creepiness. The ending is predictable but that doesn't take away by how entertaining it was.

V/H/S definitely rocked. What I liked the best out of this movie is that with this format, I was never bored. It always switched up with the different stories, so I was always engaged. I just wish that wraparound story had a little more meat to its bones. I also like that many aspects of this movie are unexplained, which would be the case with found footage! Kudos for that.

One of the only horror releases I'm actually excited about right now.

Exactly. Unfortunately, I checked the wiki page and the only international release is going to be in Argentina.

That sucks. I'll probably have to wait for the DVD release myself, but it might be worth the wait... like Trick 'r Treat.

I saw same story play out in a late '00s Asian horror anthology.

I saw that too! It was a Thai movie, I believe. 4hobia, I think it was called?

This segment is definitely way different, though.

There's a whole lot of shaking going on in this shaky film about shaky things happening, all filmed with a shaky cam set to eleven which is the shaky mode. Nearly turned it off after 10 minutes as the first segment is like watching a film in a swivel chair as an annoying bastard pours vinegar down your throat and spins you round and round and round and round and round and then round some more, it made me nauseous - although the girl was creepy. 1/10.
The webcam segment was alright, the final haunted house section was adequate, the part about the wife hiring a hitman to kill her husband was dull but the best bit was the woodland slasher-meets-predator section which worked a charm. The anthology angle was original and bridged the mini films together very well. The first segment is a migraine and belly ache inducing fuck up but it got much better as it went on.
Do yourself a favour and skip straight to the second chapter and don't drink too much before you watch it as the camera flies around all over the fucking shop.
                          7/10.

                            Holy shit, what a disappointment.

After seeing all the glowing reviews here I was really looking forward to it. Sure, it kept me somewhat entertained, but nothing made sense. No explanation to anything...nada.

All the scary build-ups just fell flat and never reached a satisfying climax.

                            Hype, hype, hype...blaaaah.

                            5/10.

Shut your filthy mouth, you'll never make a mod' by meanymouthing this film.
And thanks to the clown above who proclaimed it the best horror film they've seen this year and favourited the first segment... I got a good laugh out of that. Cheers.

The worst thing about shaky things is that their shakiness makes it hard to deliver a direct punch or stab. Die, found footage, die!
