Yes it is. The "House Of Wax" DVD I got form Wal Mart came packaged with the original "Mystery Of The Wax Museum" with it. It is indeed exactly like the Vincent Price HOW film, but both are still fun to watch.

"The Thing" is a remake, of the 1954 film. The plot was just based closer to the original short story than the 50s film had. It's not related to HOW whatsoever. And the whole point of a remake is to change everything, otherwise it would a 'reshoot' now wouldn't it?

I have the dvd and love it.

Its has more gore then that overrated shit called Wolf Creek rated 16+....
Congrats for writing the most ignorant post I have read all day!

HOW had NO tension, it was so cliche and predictable that the only tension that could be found was that on my bladder from drinking too much to get through it. Wolf Creek on the other hand was WELL made and had tension. Gore doesn't make it a good film. HOW wishes it was half the film Wolf Creek is.
argueing is a waste of fucking life!

House of Wax was and remains crap!!!!!
I walked out when they established the whole evil twin story. Sorry I was living here when they made it so I have yet more reason to hate it. Paris was not doing porn so I immediately lost interest.

Like I said, it was based more on the short story that inspired it ("Who Goes There") and not the 50s film. Like I said, a REMAKE! I don't know how more clear I can get here.

So, to get back on topic...I saw house of wax a few months back (the remake with paris hilton...bless her heart, that girl is a freak)..Irrigardless...I thought it was just OKAY. A lot of people say it was gory....so after watching it I thought....uhm...that was gory? I didn't think so. But of course I've seen buttloads of gory flicks so maybe my opinion is biased.
That pansy looking kid...chad michael murray was trying too hard to be cool and it pissed me off.

You know, I liked this movie, but that is in no way saying that it's "good". Yes, it had some cheesy dialogue, bad acting, etc. but I wasn't really expecting anything great when I started watching it, so I enjoyed it. It's a fun little waste of two hours and while it isn't smothered in gore (not that a horror movie needs to be), it does have a few cringe-inducing moments, like the fingertip slice and the tendon cut.

And I also thought the guy who played the twins was hot. *cough*

Vincent: You feel excited when you step on them and snuff out their lives.
Heather: Are you talking about the monsters?
Vincent: Monsters? They look like monsters to you?

Did you know that people cheered in the theaters when that happened? Some theaters even gave away t-shirts that read "I saw Paris Die".

I think that when sitting down to watch a film like this you can kind of expect a few things. You expect it to be predictable. You expect the characters to essentially be shallow fucks. Meat for the grinder. You expect the good girl to live at the end. You expect the kills to be ridiculous.

That said I didn't think it was too bad as a barebones slasher flick. Some of the kills were pretty cool. There was a nice dose of violence. Some gore. My problem with it was that if your going to give us a brainless piece of derivative B-rated goodness then at least cater completely to the audiences lower expectations. Give us as much blood as possible. Give us the tits. Give us the gore on the tits. And in that sense I didn't feel like it did quite as good of a job as I had hoped it would.

Plus everything looked to damn clean. Clean isn't scary. Clean is pretty and horror should be really fucking ugly.
