Neill Blomkamp’s New Horror Movie ‘Demonic’ Comes to Blu-ray in March
Personally speaking, I was pretty damn excited to see Neill Blomkamp‘s new sci-fi/horror movie Demonic last year, as it was coming along in the wake of several Blomkamp short films that showed how awesome he can be in the genre space with full creative freedom. Alas, the movie was quite underwhelming (read our review), despite having a cool premise.
Demonic now comes home to DVD/Blu-ray on March 1, Bloody Disgusting has learned.
We were told last year, “The film uses a patent-pending new method of using volumetric capture (a three-dimensional video technology that turns actors into geometric objects). The amount of volumetric capture in Demonic is the most ever seen in a feature film.”
In Demonic, a young woman unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed.
Carly Pope (Elysium), Chris William Martin (The Age of Adaline, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, The Vampire Diaries), and Michael Rogers (Siren, The Blacklist, Supernatural) star.
One of my personal favorite horror movies of all time, 1987’s gateway horror classic The Gate is opening back up on May 14 with a brand new Blu-ray SteelBook release from Lionsgate!
The new release will feature fresh SteelBook artwork from Vance Kelly, seen below.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences.
