Escape Room China release

Adam Robitel‘s Escape Room franchise delivered more PG-13 thrills, deadly traps, and cleverly designed rooms in Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, which Sony released in theaters on July 16. On the road to Halloween, the new sequel is now coming home.

We’ve learned that Tournament of Champions will be released digitally on September 21, and Gizmodo reports that a brand new alternate version of the movie will be included!

As director Adam Robitel explains in his own words, “For fans of Escape Room… there are TWO versions of the movie to experience. The “extended cut” which should appropriately be called the “alternate cut”, has a whole bunch of cool mythology and behind the scenes of Minos. Isabelle Fuhrman is incredible and I’m glad this cut is getting its day in the sun.”

As Gizmodo explains, this alternate version of the movie runs 96-minutes long, while the theatrical version was just 88-minutes. Head over to Gizmodo to learn more about the release.

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions is the sequel to the box office hit psychological thriller that terrified audiences around the world. In this installment, six people unwittingly find themselves locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive…and discovering they’ve all played the game before.”

Taylor Russell and Logan Miller are back from Robitel’s first Escape Room, starring in the new movie alongside Indya Moore, Holland Roden, Thomas Cocquerel, and Carlito Olivero.

The sequel’s script was written by Will Honley and Oren Uziel and Maria Melnik & Daniel Tuch.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
