Capcom has answered fans pining for a return to the Dragon’s Dogma series with the announcement that Dragon’s Dogma II is currently in development. Platforms and a release date were not announced, but the sequel 10 years in the making will be using Capcom‘s RE Engine.

The announcement of Dragon’s Dogma II was part of the “10 Years of Dragon’s Dogma” Digital Event, which saw Dragon’s Dogma director Hideaki Itsuno revealing the sequel, along with discussing the inspirations behind the monsters, combat, and gameplay mechanics that defined the first game.

While details have yet to be revealed, Itsuno stated that the Dragon’s Dogma II development team includes Dragon’s Dogma veterans Daigo Ikeno and Kenichi Suzuki.

Initially released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, Dragon’s Dogma eventually saw releases on the PC via Steam in 2016, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017, and the Nintendo Switch in 2019. Dragon’s Dogma takes place in the world of Gransys, where the player, an Arisen, together with three followers embarks on a quest to face the Dragon and stop the coming apocalypse.
