Why's that? I hardly read any mutant titles so I don't have an opinion on her...other than Femmka Janson is pretty hot.

I finished Eternals: To Slay A God. It wasn't too bad. I might pick up the next volume when it comes out, if I don't have anything else to get at the time.

I got my copy of Annihilation: Conquest book 2 today so I'll start reading it. Are there any other good sci-fi series from marvel or any other publishers? I already read Green Lantern, and I'm going to pick up Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova. Alleyway, I'm looking at you on this one.

Actually, cosmic shit's never really been my bag...I would've just recommended ones you mentioned...but I can add Infinity Gauntlet to that list. As for the Jean Grey thing...I can probably answer for PnG. She's died and come back so many times at this point that it's actually ridiculous (even by comic death standards).

Well damn, I'll have to search for some on my own. One of the employees of the shop I always goes to is into sci-fi flicks, I'll have to ask him if he reads any good sci-fi series next I'm there.

Really? Is it suppose to be an on-going joke or is it just that writers can't decide what they want to do with her?

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Adam Strange story that Andy Diggle did a few years back, so you can add that to the list as well. Also, there's probably other dudes around here that can give you some more choices (like Mena probably). Some of which are probably even stuff I like and can't think of right now...

Anyway, as for the Jean Grey thing (again)...I think her first death and resurrection (and death...and resurrection) really meant something at the time, but the fact that she's stayed dead as long as she has seems crazy these days. It's never really been a joke by any means, but the whole Phoenix thing basically seems to give people license for her constant death (and resurrection) to be meaningless.

Alright. Well anyone on here who reads sci-fi comics I would appreciate some recommendations.

I always forget about the Phoenix things. How long has she stayed dead?

                • I highly recommend Marvel Zombies (if you haven't read it yet, obviously)...you could start with the first trade paperback, but I say pick up the MZ graphic novel Dead Days...utterly spectacular.

But as far as comics in general go, I can't stress how awesome Alan Moore is. God, I loved a particular Superman issue he did called For The Man Who Has Everything. Very powerful stuff.

Who are you recommending MZ to?

I read the Nova chapters of Conquest book 2. I don't know why I drag ass when it comes to reading stuff I really like. I read book 1 two months ago and loved it and here I am just now starting book 2. I have way too much backed up: Tom Strong (2-6), Promethea (1-5), Ultimates (2 and 3), Invincible ( Ultimate Collection 3), Preacher (4-9), and I haven't even bothered getting the fourth hardcover of Walking Dead. That's not even mentioning all the little GN's I've picked up here and there.

Basically since the end of Grant Morrison's run on 'New X-men'...which, unfortunately, was exactly at the point where Jean Grey started to become interesting.

I guess you could count Greg Pak's mini-series 'Phoenix: Endsong,' which was also quite good. Both writers tried to streamline the whole ressurection thing and link it to the Phoenix Force. Really though, years of lazy writers trying to re-tell the Claremont stories is what cheapened the whole ordeal.

                      • Endsong was actually pretty good, but then they did a fucking sequel to that which was fucking stupid

She had some time in the morrison story Here comes tomorrow which showed her in less clothes for some reason.

But alley said it best when it concerns Jean

                        • Read Annihilation: Wraith today. I didn't like this story so much. The Kree With No Name (Wraith) was a cool idea, but the story in general seemed to move to fast for me. I'm almost done with the series.

                          • I read Alan Moore's Shadowplay on recommendation from a friend.
Very interesting, I highly suggest reading it if you can get your hands on it.

I also blazed my way through Transmetropolitan. This series has surpassed every other series I've ever read. Going in, I did not think it would have as big an impact on me as it has. It may start with a leaning of the humorous and bizarre, but as the issues go on, you see a much more biting take on American society and a culture obsessed with getting their own desires satisfied instead of helping those who do not even have the means to acquire life-necessities. I can not say this enough; Transmetropolitan is one of the greatest series ever put out on the visual medium of comic books.

It's the last letter of the issue. I'm pretty stoked because it's the first letter I have sent to a writer that has made it into the issue.

                              Eat it, Alley.
