        • Just finished 'Green Lantern: Rebirth #6' and the first issue of the new ongoing Green Lantern.

          Both were dissappointing.

Hal Jordan one-punching the Batman?!?! I don't think so, it just wouldn't happen. Ever. And I'm getting real tired of Geoff using these issues as an excuse to talk about how awesome he thinks Jordan is. "Hey, Hal's back!" "That's just swell, he's such a great guy!" "Tell me about it. Hey Hal, wanna fuck my sister?"

I mean, he comes back from the dead after slaughtering thousands, and everyone is just glad because it's Hal, Mr. fucking awesome. The only one concerned is Batman (naturally). I'd like to see more animosity towards his return, make Hal live up to his old legend, make him prove himself again. I'll give Johns three more issues, otherwise I'm dropping this title.

Yeah, I know it's a Green Lantern mini-series, and not (another) Batman one-shot. But still, it's like having Green Arrow kick the crap out of Superman because it's his book. Being as Geoff Johns is a pure DC kind of guy, and I'm more Marvel, this was the first Johns stuff I've read. Having heard so much hype about the guy, I was really hoping for something a bit more complex in his storytelling then what was presented. The first 5 issues of 'Rebirth' were fanatastic, but the last issue and GL #1 were big letdowns.

It's as bad as Jeff Loeb using 'Superman/Batman' to complain about the Ultimates. I don't mind it when the companies do little spoofs or nods to each other, so long as it's tasteful. Millar did a great spoof on the Avengers during his 'Authority' run, but Loeb's Maximums are just there for him to whine and bitch about the competition.

                • that whole Batman superman vs the maxuims thing is funny...the writers of them were talking in wizard and this is basically their way of saying that the duo of Batman and superman can kick ANYONE's ass...from either DC or Marvel...

which is really a matter of of choice...cause Marvel has all those god like beings which would just destory batman and superman eitherway...

which is really dumb cause as good as batman and superman are..you put them in marvel's universre and they would just get owend. I have always seen marvel 's people compared to DCs as overpowered godlike creatures....DC has more human characters while marvel always has had that "mutant"

it seams there is a difference over the last few yaers...between the word "meta human" and "mutant"

It justs seems that mutant is a much more powerful enity then meta human is...

I dont know..I just dont see superman and batman stopping anyone outside of DC.

That's why I use Midtowncomics.com. The subscription system is basically Netflix for comics, and everything's at a discount as it is. Stinger turned me onto it a few months ago, and it's quite wonderful.

I'm sure Midtown is great, but I like going to my little local comic shop and knowing that my dollars are helping to keep the small business afloat. It's not just about picking up new comics (ok, that's mostly the reason), it's also fun to just shoot the shit with the guys there and find out what's good and what's not.

I'm not saying that ordering in comics is bad, hell it's probably a lot cheaper, I just like going to an actual store and looking around at all the cool shit that's begging to bankrupt me.

Also, ZombieCommando, you can check out the Diamond Distribution website which will give you the release dates on all of the comics coming out. It's what the retailers use, so it's definately reliable and that way you know which week your titles are coming in for sure.

I actually agree with you, which is why it took Stinger so long to convince me to even try Midtown. If it were up to me, I'd go to the store every week and pick up my books, but the closest comic book store is around an hour away, so the shipping alone with Midtown is about half of what I pay for gas to make the trip. I still go out there whenever I can, but I primarily get my books via Midtown. It's a small business in itself, so really...everybody wins.
