Jack Ketchum easily. Stephen King called him "the scariest man in America" for a reason. Of course he was speaking of writers, not politicans.

                  In no order:
                  James Herbert
                  Robin Cook (medical Horror FTW!)
                  John Saul
                  Clive Barker
                  Ramsey Campbell.

I've got to say that Richard Laymon's popularity upsets me deeply.

Christopher Pike. That chapter in The Cold One where she blows the priest and then rips his ribcage open b/c he came before she could fuck him.. I was hooked.

After that I'd have to say King. I'll never get over the whole Georgie & Pennywise scene in IT.

                              It's a three way tie....

                              GRAHAM MASTERTON
                              HP LOVECRAFT
                              JOHN SKIPP & CRAIG SPECTOR

Yeah, technically four, but the last two wrote a lot of classics together.

Used to like James Herbert, R Chetwynd Hayes, and Shaun Hutson, but cannot feel their work now.
Ramsey Campbell's ok, but in small doses.

Guy N Smith... ha ha ha ha ha ha
