  • Game Of Thrones

Fucking stoked. HBO has picked up George R. R. Martins "A Game Of Thrones" to air in 2011.

This is easily the best fantasy series I have ever read and HBO has a pretty damn solid track record. Can not wait for this.

Sean Bean will be Eddard Stark.

    Has anyone else read this?

I'm half way through the third book and so far it's outstanding; fitting material for HBO. The cast looks great, especially Bean as Stark. Can't wait...

Wish he'd hurry the fuck up with the next book. Been waiting since 05. He's a fat bastard and I don't want him to kick the bucket without finishing.

He recently announced he was almost done book 5 though.

They also got a perfect midget for Tyrion.

Peter Dinklage is a great actor and Tyrion is as complex as fuck, another win.

I hope it lasts beyond the first book.

Heard about this yesterday. I love Martin's work, my favorite being "Meathouse Man," though his A Song Of Ice And Fire series is great too.

          Really stoked for it.

I despise the fantasy genre, so there is no way they could ever get me to watch this. Even with Sean Bean, no dice.

THis isn't you typical fantasy. It's really different from anything else I have read in the genre.

                From Wiki:

There are three principal storylines in the series: the chronicling of a dynastic civil war for control of Westeros between several competing families; the rising threat of the Others who dwell beyond an immense wall of ice that forms Westeros' northern border; and the journey of Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled daughter of a king who was murdered in another civil war fifteen years previously (War of the Usurper) and now seeks to return to Westeros and claim her rightful throne. As the series progresses, all three storylines become intensely interwoven and dependent on each other.
Another thing that sets him apart is that no one is ever safe. He is fully willing to kill absolutely anyone off in his books. I love it. Your afraid to turn the page because you nerver know if the hero is gonna make it.

I used to feel the same until I actually started giving it a chance. There are a lot of great authors and a lot of great books in the genre.

I felt that way about sci-fi books when I was younger as well until I read Enders Game.

I totally understand the feeling, but this guy plays the ignorance card daily. I just wanted to see what he's got.

It's CJ man. Surely, that's not the most baseless remark you've read from him. At least he gave somewhat of a reason for not liking something he knows nothing about.

Personally, I've never heard of this. More than likely due to me not being a reader. Is it a "traditional" fantasy story(LOTR), or something a bit more out there like Carnivale?
