    • Just got back from the new Evil Dead...I loved it! It was not without flaws, but it was what it was. I had fun. Definitely recommended as long as you don't expect an arthouse film.

      • "Sorority House Massacre".....A classic slasher from 1986 and a pretty good one at that. Not as good as Slumber Party Massacre...but I do like the storyline for this one. "Beth" going back to her old home from when she was 5 years old...and being haunted by dreams of her brother trying to kill her. The telepathic bond the sister and brother shared was a good story to be told. A few cute girls, one handsome guy("Craig" played by Joe Nassi), some nicely done death scenes, camp, and good suspense make this movie fun to watch. The acting isn't too bad, and the 2 lead girls are good in their roles. However, I wish Wendy Martel(Linda) played "Beth" instead of Angela O'Neil. I felt so bad for "Linda" when she was killed off. She was so close to the end and was a good character to root for!!

Up there with The Hills Have Eyes and Piranha remakes. Loved it! The setting, mood, gore, and even the characters imo were great. Looking forward to watching this bad boy again already!

Set in Depression-era in Franklin County, Virginia, a bootlegging gang of brothers is threatened by a new deputy and other authorities, who want a cut of their profits.
This film wasn't released in Germany, which I really can't understand. I just can wholeheartedly recommend it. Shia La Beouf convinced me the first time, that he can really act along with Tom Hardy, who once again delivers the goods. Jessica Chastain is in as well, though not that omni-present like in Zero Dark Thirty. The plot is fine and directed superbly by John Hillcoat, who previously did The Road or The Proposition. I surely will check out The Proposition, that Hillcoat dude definitely convinced me.
Just watch it. It's bloody violent, gory and equipped with a very fine set design as well.

              9/10

              Mama
Two sisters are found wasted and uncared for in a cabin in the woods and brought back by their relatives into civilization. What they do not know is, that the pair brought something terryfying and vengeful into the child's room with them.
Solid and creepy ghost story with decent scares and very good sfx (especially the über-creepy Mama ghost) too. Jessica Chastain is in again (she is basically in every godamn movie right no) and acts a hawd as hell punk rock bass player. She once again is convincing and all good. The plot is not that thick, but it still works and delivers entertaining and worthwhile 90 minutes.

              7,5/10

Fantastic movie. One of my favorites from last year. I kinda regret not drafting it.

                        • Crash (1996)- As far as l'm concerned, this is David Cronenberg's finest masterpiece. Body horror was never quite as sexually deviant or depraved as with this bizarre study into "the reshaping of the human body by modern technology". lts as beautiful as it is ugly, as elegant as it is atrocious. lts a delicately dark look at the wrong side of our highways and bi-ways, through a cracked rear-view mirror where things are far stranger than they appear. A quiet, hallucinatory road trip of violence and debauchery, accentuated by Howard Shore's magnificent guitar soundtrack, which rides perfect companion to the sounds of rent metal and twisted steel. Elias Koteas gives an alluringly evil performance as Vaughn, who pulls James Spader into a creepy underworld of hedonistic car crash enthusiasts. The story often banks hard to the left, and the road that these characters travel is not paved with good intentions. Proceed with caution. 10/10
