‘The Thing’ – NECA Finds a Warm Place to Hide With Dog Creature Action Figure! [Photo] #SDCC
NECA kicked off the fun when they celebrated Kurt Russell‘s birthday with the reveal of an “Ultimate” action figure of the actor’s character from John Carpenter’s sci-fi horror masterpiece, The Thing.
In the 1982 film, a shape-shifting alien looks for someplace warm to hide and assumes the appearance of its victims – including that of a kennel of Norwegian dogs, Alaskan Malamutes which become a blob of revolting, slimy, and straight-up horrifying flesh.
As part of their Toy Fair reveals this past spring, NECA announced the addition of the monster mutt to their The Thing toy line also sharing the first look at a work-in-progress of the dog, which will be available in two forms.
Now, at the San Diego Comic-Con, NECA has the full prototype on display, which includes two various stages of the dog’s transformation.
Years back, SOTA Toys had added John Carpenter’s The Thing to their “Now Playing” line with a box set featuring MacReady and the film’s dog monster.
McFarlane Toys also made figures from The Thing as part of their “Movie Maniacs” line, but they only got around to making “Norris Creature” and “Blair Monster.”
Toys based on the movie have been announced by other companies more recently, but they were unfortunately canceled. Needless to say, it’s a big deal that NECA now has the license.

“Chucky” – Official Trailer for This Week’s New Episode Brings Brad Dourif into the White House!
Just two episodes remain in Season 3 of “Chucky,” with the second-to-last episode airing this Wednesday night on USA & SYFY. It’s titled “There Will Be Blood,” and oh yes there will be.
Last week’s episode was absolutely INSANE, with Chucky taking control of the situation room in the White House and attempting to start World War 3. His plan was thwarted, but not before nuking the North Pole. In the wake of launching that missile, Chucky met the true death, his doll body disintegrating into ash like he got Thanos snapped out of existence.
The episode ended with an appearance from Brad Dourif as Charles Lee Ray in his human form, with his spirit now free from the doll and roaming around the haunted White House.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for this week’s episode: “Parapsychologists investigate the disturbances in the White House, while Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) plans her escape.”
“There Will Be Blood” airs Wednesday, April 24 on USA and SYFY. Reversing a new plan they tested out last week, we’re told the episode will be available on Peacock this Thursday.
Watch the trailer below to preview this week’s bloody new episode!
