Idris Elba will battle a hungry lion in the upcoming summer movie Beast, a survival thriller that Universal Pictures will be releasing into movie theaters on August 19, 2022.

Check out a first-look image below, shared by Fandango this morning. Idris Elba is bloody and battle damaged in this shot from Beast, clearly the work of a hungry predator…

Baltasar Kormákur (EverestAdrift) directed Beast for Universal Pictures. Based on an idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan, Ryan Engle (Rampage) wrote the script.

In Beast, “A recently widowed man (Idris Elba) and his two teenage daughters travel to a game reserve in South Africa. However, their journey of healing soon turns into a fight for survival when a bloodthirsty lion starts to stalk them”

The cast also includes Sharlto Copley (District 9), Iyana Halley, and Leah Sava Jeffries.

Producers include Primak-Sullivan, Kormákur, Will Packer and James Lopez.
