My words as well. If you are easily offended, prude or narrow-minded, than you won't get nothing behind his movies or the meaning at all. Major parts of his movies feel arthousish, but in fact they are not arhousish just for the sake of being non-mainstream entertainment. They are just his vision.

The extended version will be the one with hardcore scenes.
Plus, the theme of the movie without explicit sex scenes involved would be/is just plain senseless.

At this stage of his career, he is pretty much now a pendant to Tarantino I think. Everybody would give their left nut or tit to be in one of his features, so he really doesn't have problems to assemble a high-class cast of cabaple actors. I give him credit for that, since you must work pretty hard as a director to gain such a reputation.

And: I don't have a prob with returning actors like Willem Dafoe or Gainsbourg, as long as they deliver the goods. Pretty much like DiCaprio in any given Scorsese movie. He always delivers, improving his skills with every role.

wtf this movie is being talked about EVERYWHERE and the only think people care to say about is how it has real sex and Shia LeBouf. I hope it fades away from being an internet fad of the week so people who actually want to see it for its merit can enjoy it in peace.

It really looks outstanding... Von Trier worked his way as one of my favorite living directors after Antichrist.

          Getting a two part release

          March and April

Total run time is about (or just over) 4 hours.

Looks like it will be On Demand and released in very select theaters as well.

Part 1: March 6 (VOD) and March 21 (select theaters)

Part 2: April 3 (VOD) and April 18 (select theaters)

It will premiere in Denmark on Christmas day (both parts being shown at once). Apparently he is trying to theatrically release the most graphic version he can (which is the 4 hour long version). Apparently sometime in the next year a 5 and 1/2 hour cut (that is totally uncut) will be played at festivals.

I have no problem whatsoever with sex in films, but man, I really don't know if I want to watch Charlotte Gainsbourg's bony ass having sex again. Antichrist really turned me off to her. In any case, i'll give this a go.

Hmm, well the film is called Nymphomaniac with Charlotte as the titular character, so I'm guessing we'll be seeing lots of her having lots of sex.

I'm looking forward to it but kinda disappointed that it will be in 2 parts or 5 1/2 hours long, it presents many difficulties it will have to overcome. It does add to the intrigue for me though.

Agreed on both accounts. Hell, I may even wait until i can see the full version (but I doubt it)

Agreed... It definitely is NOT going to be the type of film most people like, and will undoubtedly cause Von Trier to be further known as "pretentious"... but I am extremely curious as to what he has made here. I have a really good feeling about this project.

So the four hour cut is getting the VOD releases? Confusing as fuck tbh

My shitty 100% mainstream theater is in no way going to be showing this ever so I seriously hope an uncut VOD release will come sometime soon after the regular version.

Put "2 Fast 2 Furious" in B&W and Se7en thinks he's watching a Bergman film.
I find the Metal Gear Solid series to be mediocre at best.

The only thing mainstream about this flick is half the cast. I'm betting that this is Von Triers most arty film yet, and will no doubt have the haters screaming "pretentious" at the top of their lungs. I can't wait to see what he's cooked up.

I seriously doubt this will have a North American theatrical release, and if it does, it will be extremely limited. Porn is porn, no matter how artsy it is, and we frown on that sort of thing over here.
