That's what I've been saying.

The other villains need not be there. Especially if Mandarin was fucking shit up with his 10 Rings.

I'm not too pissed off about it because I'm not really all that familiar with the character.
I did think it was very odd when I saw the film as the marketing is all around The Mandarin and how he is this major terrorist character, but then he isn't really at all.

I can definitely see how fans of the character can see it as a waste.
I thought it was the best of the 3 but still kinda just average. The movie was pretty funny and some of the action was great but nothing blew me away. I don't read the comics and don't know much of the Mandarin but the twist even let me down. 7/10

Easily the best of the trilogy. Just a great action packed and well written popcorn flick.

            As for the twist....
it threw me off at first but ultimately won me over due to Sir Ben Kingsley's performance. Once it was revealed he was just some british actor he had me laughing my ass off.
A great time at the movies.

I just can't fathom how they did it. I mean, they must have known it was going to shit a fuck load of people off.
I can't seem to understand why Marvel/Lee/etc. would allow the filmmakers to butcher such an awesome character...

Unfortunately I don't think Lee really has a say. Marvel itself should be completely and utterly ashamed of itself though. For disgracing one of it's most successful and known villains.

I really, really have no idea how they even thought of it.

Just saw this and had a great time with it. Easily the best of the 3 Iron Man movies, but after Avengers it just felt like it lacked the full personality of that movie. Still, it is a solid entry in the Marvel world with jaw dropping action, great characters, and high comedic value. The only real complaint I have is that the non-stop wave of humor lightened the entire ordeal to a point where I never felt that anybody was in real peril, the other Iron Man movies have the same issue. That's just me though.

                  Also
All of this stuff with the Mandarin is void to me. I don't know a lot about the comics and quite frankly don't care if it deviates from the source material. The way it was done in the movie was well done and surprisingly won me over despite being caught off track at first. Sure, the more middle-eastern/asian guy wasn't the Mandarin as seen in the comics, but Guy Pierce's character was the Mandarin, so I don't see what the big deal it. He was still there, it was just a fresh interpretation of it. Comic books purists need to chill out.
Agree 100%.

Put "2 Fast 2 Furious" in B&W and Se7en thinks he's watching a Bergman film.
I find the Metal Gear Solid series to be mediocre at best.

The issue surrounding The Mandarin doesn't bother me either. It definitely caught me off guard but I thought it was quite the clever twist.

Nothing that the comic book geeks moan about with these Marvel films ever bothers me as I've never read any of the comics.

                        NO!
Guy P. wasn't the Manderin, don't say that.

I mean, people who aren't familiar aren't going to care (they don't know any better). But Manderine is to Stark, what Joker is to Wayne. And they just fucked him over. Big time. I mean, I expect something to obviously not be done right, and I'm cool with that. But not when you have one of the Iron-Man key characters, completely up rooted and non-existent. Imagine were it done to the Joker? Or Lex Luther etc etc.

You can't blame fans for having the shits on this one, you really can't.
That's odd, I know of a lot of people who think the same as I do. At least 15.

I also know a few people who aren't familiar with the comics and they still thought it was a disappointment. It's hard to follow up something as huge as Avengers though.
