This will definitely be worth checking out. I love all of Andersons movies and he hasn't made a dud yet.

I figured I'd bump this thread with some information!

This film will be released in 2012 and will be called "The Master"

Here is the summary from Wikipedia.

A charismatic intellectual (Hoffman) launches a faith-based organization following World War II. A drifter (Phoenix) becomes his right-hand man but as the faith begins to gain a fervent following, the drifter finds himself questioning the belief system and his mentor.[4]
        Here is the cast

Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lancaster Dodd
        Joaquin Phoenix as Freddie Sutton
Amy Adams as Mary Sue Dodd
        Laura Dern as Helen
Ambyr Childers as Elizabeth, Lancaster's daughter
Jesse Plemons as Val Dodd, Lancaster's son
        Lena Endre as Mrs. Solstad
Rami Malek as Clark, son-in-law of Lancaster Dodd
        Madisen Beaty as Doris Solstad
        Fiona Dourif
        Joshua Close as Wayne
        W. Earl Brown as Bus
        David Warshofsky as a detective
        Patty McCormack
Kevin J. O'Connor as Bill White

Well now........ Paul Thomas Anderson directed my favorite film of all time and this movie sounds absolutely incredible. Hoffman and Phoenix are two of the best actors alive (yes, I thought Phoenix's rap-hoax turned mockumentary was a work of genius and truly showed how amazingly talented he is). I am beyond pumped for this film.

Sounds very interesting. Not the biggest Hoffman fan but I'll still be lining up to see this.

If it's a Paul Thomas Anderson film, it's a foregone conclusion I'll be checking it out.

So essentially it's a film about the founding of Scientology. Yeah, I'll pass...

Forward, not permanent, sweet, not lasting.

                    PTA is a stud -
the Scientology stuff is the icing on the cake.

                    I'm there

and I spoil them, as you can see.
They talk when they should listen."

Clearly this film is going to be very critical of Scientology, although it will do so indirectly. After There Will Be Blood it is quite obvious that Paul Thomas Anderson is not a fan of organized religion.

With the track record PT has this is sure to be another knock out from him.

My most anticipated film of the year. Next to Prometheus.
