“Creature Commandos” – James Gunn’s Animated Series Announces Voice Cast That Includes David Harbour and Frank Grillo

James Gunn is bringing horror to the DCU, including the upcoming Max animated series “Creature Commandos” based on the DC Comics team that blended monsters and superheroes amidst World War II.

While the release date hasn’t been announced yet, Collider revealed the all-star cast bringing the “Creature Commandos” to life.

The cast includes Sean Gunn as Weasel and GI Robot, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, with Steve Agee reprising his role as John Economos from “The Peacemaker.” In the series, the Creature Commandos work under the supervision of Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).

The premise features Frankenstein’s monster teaming up with a werewolf, a vampire, and a gorgon to fight Nazis in World War II. While there are obvious DC crossovers here with Weasel, John Economos, and Amanda Waller, it’ll be exciting to see how these characters integrate with iconic monsters like Frankenstein and The Bride. One thing is clear: don’t expect this series to adhere to the comic with the DCU character inclusion closely.

Variety previously revealed that we can expect many of these characters, therefore the actors voicing them, “will also play the roles in live-action later on in the DCU.” That means we may get a DCU live-action series or movie featuring David Harbour’s Eric Frankenstein and Indira Varma’s The Bride in the future.

New co-heads of DC Studios James Gunn and Peter Safran cited “Creature Commandos” as part of the first chapter of their overarching DCEU story called “Gods and Monsters.” Expect the horror to continue, with a new horror-focused Swamp Thing movie also in the works.

Gunn is writing every episode of “Creature Commandos” in the seven-episode series.

Stay tuned for more details on “Creature Commandos” as they arrive.

“Chucky” – Official Trailer for This Week’s New Episode Brings Brad Dourif into the White House!

Just two episodes remain in Season 3 of “Chucky,” with the second-to-last episode airing this Wednesday night on USA & SYFY. It’s titled “There Will Be Blood,” and oh yes there will be.

Last week’s episode was absolutely INSANE, with Chucky taking control of the situation room in the White House and attempting to start World War 3. His plan was thwarted, but not before nuking the North Pole. In the wake of launching that missile, Chucky met the true death, his doll body disintegrating into ash like he got Thanos snapped out of existence.

The episode ended with an appearance from Brad Dourif as Charles Lee Ray in his human form, with his spirit now free from the doll and roaming around the haunted White House.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for this week’s episode: “Parapsychologists investigate the disturbances in the White House, while Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) plans her escape.”

“There Will Be Blood” airs Wednesday, April 24 on USA and SYFY. Reversing a new plan they tested out last week, we’re told the episode will be available on Peacock this Thursday.
