I'd say A Tale of Two Sisters, Oldboy or I Saw The Devil.

        1. Memories of Murder
        2. Mr. Vengeance
        3. A Tale of Two Sisters
        4. Oldboy
        5. Lady Vengeance

A Bittersweet Life and Save the Green Planet I like as well. Need to give Thirst and I Saw the Devil rewatches, I was lukewarm to Thirst and disliked ISTD.

Edit: My memory has faded on others I've seen although I remember a strange nightmarish one called The Isle set on a fishing resort. Would like to see that again.

I think Thirst is marvellous, such a hypnotising film. I've only seen I Saw The Devil the once but it has stayed with me ever since, it was just as good or better than my expectations.

I've not seen Save the Green Planet myself looks good though, infact there's a lot of highly regarded Korean movies I've yet to see..

          Save the Green Planet
The Good, the Bad, the Weird
          Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... Spring
          I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK
          3-Iron
          New World
          Confession of Murder
          Brotherhood
          Guns & Talks
          Samaritan Girl
          The Quiet Family

and that's just off the top of my head. For me, the South Korean film industry has been the world's best in the past 10 or so years.

Yeah, that's fair to say and I've got quite a few left to watch myself. I went on a big kick of South Korean films in the 00's after I watched Oldboy at the Cinema. Haven't really kept up the last few years.

I'm pretty jealous, I'd love to see one at the cinema. Not Korean but there's a showing of Hard Boiled here next Friday so I'm gonna look into getting tickets this weekend, hopefully theres's a few left, that would be amazing to see on the big screen.

You should give Thirst another go mate. First time I watched it I didn't like it at all, maybe there was the right amount of beer and weed in my system but it spoke to me the second time around, I seen a lot of things I didn't first time around. Chan-wook Park is a master of the arts.

Want to watch: The Chaser, Mother, Thirst, The Host, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Pieta

Put "2 Fast 2 Furious" in B&W and Se7en thinks he's watching a Bergman film.
I find the Metal Gear Solid series to be mediocre at best.

i love i saw the devil and oldboy, both films that left me disturbed and depressed, and also exhilarated. they are both so beautifully shot, and they contain sequences of absolute horror and beauty, somehow, often together. also really liked the host.

If we suddenly fall should I scream out
Or keep very quiet and cling to my mouth as I’m crying
                    So frightened of dying
                    Relax, yes, I’m trying
But fear's got a hold on me

                        Death Bell

Otherwise, not a big fan of Korean cinema.

After posting on this thread I had to go and watch Attack the Gas Station again. What a fun movie. It's the one on my list I would definitely recommend to anyone. I haven't seen the second one. I'm not even sure if there was a US or region free version released.
