  • The Fitness Thread

This thread is all about fitness. Discuss your everyday fitness routines, what you eat, and everything. I personally run about 4 times a week, usually 6-10 miles at a time. The most I have run at one time was 12 miles in 1 hour and 45 minutes. I also weight lift about 3 times a week. Nothing big, I'm not trying to be huge, just have a nice tone body. I eat mostly fruits and vegetables, and try to be as healthy as possible.

I go to the gym to lift/run at least 3 times a week. I pretty much eat anything I want though, so I'm not skinny, or even healthy really. I just have a decent muscle mass. Working out is awesome though.

This is the workout I'm trying out currently. It's supposedly the workout Brad Pitt used for Troy. It has two phases: Bulking up and cutting. Since I already have plenty of muscle on me, I'm only focusing on the cutting part.

        Cutting (“hardening”)

        Day 1: Shoulders/Upper Chest
        2 sets x 6 reps Military Press
        2 sets x 8 reps Arnold Press
2 sets x 8 reps dumbbell flys (make sure your arms are bent slightly)
2 sets x 10 reps bent over dumbbell flys (these will work your rear
delts; bend over as much as possible so you stress the rear of your
shoulder as much as you can)
3 sets x 10 reps Inclined Dumbbell Press

        Day 2:

        Part 1:

Perform these exercises in succession, then rest for 30 seconds. Repeat this until you can’t anymore. Note that I say max for each exercise. This means that before you start this phase you need to find out the maximum number of each exercise you can do, and then do half as many in this routine. Eventually you will need to increase the amount because your endurance will improve.

        max Pushups
        max Pull ups
        max Sit ups
        max Triangular pushups

        30 seconds rest

        Part 2:

20 Minutes of intervals. Do the cycle of sprint and rest for 20 minutes. Make sure to warm up and warm down for at least 5 minutes.

30 seconds sprint (run as fast as you can for 30 seconds)

        1 minute rest

        Day 3:

        Part 1:

30 minutes running at a moderate pace.

        Part 2:

20 Minutes of intervals. Do the cycle of sprint and rest for 20 minutes. Make sure to warm up and warm down for at least 5 minutes.

30 seconds sprint (run as fast as you can for 30 seconds)

        1 minute rest

        Day 4: Back/Traps/Biceps

        3 sets x 12 reps Pullups
        3 sets x 10 reps seated rows
        3 sets x 10 reps upright rows
        2 sets x 15 reps dumbbell shrugs
        3 sets x 10 reps preacher curls

        Day 5: Cardio

1 hour of running at a moderate pace

Day 6: Perform the same workout as Day 2. Don’t do the sprints if you feel very worn out.

        Day 7: Rest

I do bicep curls and crap with the barbell, hammer curls and shit with freeweights.

I can do 7 diamond push-ups with hands at the top of my pelvic bone. It's hard and it hurts, but they're rad.

I've been skateboarding since I was eight so I have tough legs....and no ass.

I exercise because it releases positive endorphins and makes you happy. To me, getting physically attractive is just icing on the cake.

I run about 3 times a week and make sure a have at least 1.5 hours of cardio each visit. I eat mostly veggies and chicken by choice but alot of people think I just want to be psycho. I also do kick boxing which keeps me toned as well. I personally love working out because it is my way of relieving stress.

I quit working out about a year ago and I have gained a few pounds nothing major but I got a little gut (not big just a little bit of flab) going compared to how I was a year or so ago.

That being said working out is 90% mental for me, the actual act of working out is childs play compared to getting motivated... I should really get back to my daily routine but with work and soon school I doubt I will have the motivation.

It's tough staying motivated. I don't belong to a gym, which I wish I did, but I lift at my house and it gets boring and I end up not lifting alot. If you have a frend who likes to do fitness, both of you should make a weekly schedule and work out together. Or at least try and workout 3 times a week.

Does anyone have any 6 week or weekly exercise programs they do or made up? Gyms are too expensive and I'm trying all different type of home exercises. I don't bench anymore, but use dumbbells. I also have a pull up bar which helps alot.
