[R.I.P.] ‘Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse’ Actor Joey Morgan Has Passed Away at 28

Best known to horror fans for playing Augie Foster in the 2015 horror-comedy Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, we’ve learned the sad news that Joey Morgan has passed away.

Morgan was just 28 years old, with THR reporting that the young actor passed away early Sunday morning. A rep told the site, “It was a shock and devastated all of us who loved him. He will be dearly missed. We hope everyone understands how painful this is for his loved ones and can respect boundaries and allow them to grieve in private.”

Scouts Guide director Christopher Landon tweeted over the weekend, “Joey Morgan came into my life nearly 9 years ago when I made Scouts. He was quiet, funny, intelligent and thoughtful. And when the cameras rolled he was magnetic. He passed today and the news is heartbreaking. I am honored to have known him.”

In addition to the 2015 horror-comedy, Joey Morgan also starred in the series “Critters: A New Binge,” a short mini-series reboot that premiered on Shudder back in 2019.

Joey Morgan’s other acting credits include DeTour (2015), Compadres (2016), “Chicago Med” (2017), Flower (2017), Camp Manna (2018), and Sierra Burgess is a Loser (2018). Morgan’s most recent role was in the 2020 comedy Max Reload and the Nether Blasters.

We had been looking forward to many more years of Joey Morgan on our screens both big and small, and all of us here on BD send our deepest condolences to Joey’s family and friends.
