The weird thing about this story is that the couple are from South Africa, as of course, is the Ranger. They really should have known better.

Usually it's holiday snap "foreign" tourists that jump out the vehicle to take a shot of a lion whilst uttering "here puss, puss" and "awww, isn't he cute?" before a loud roar is heard and they become another "tourist thought lions are like domestic cats" statistic.

There's absolutely no second chances in Africa. In the wild or in the urban streets.
