Default Lawless (2012)

I think this great film deserves a motherfucking thread right here.

Set in Depression-era in Franklin County, Virginia, a bootlegging gang of brothers is threatened by a new deputy and other authorities, who want a cut of their profits.

Watched it today and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. Shia La Beouf convinced me the first time, that he can really act along with Tom Hardy, who once again delivers the goods. Jessica Chastain is in as well, though not that omni-present like in Zero Dark Thirty. The plot is fine and directed superbly by John Hillcoat, who previously did The Road or The Proposition. I surely will check out The Proposition, that Hillcoat dude definitely convinced me.
Just watch it. It's bloody violent and gory as well.

I liked Lawless and will buy it on blu ray eventually. I thought Labeouf's and especially Hardy's performances were exceptionally strong. I did feel it was lacking a certain something I couldn't put my finger on though, I didn't leave the cinema feeling amazed. I look forward to a rewatch though.

Me too. Blu-ray is already in my queue. I think it has great rewatch-qualities - not only because of the great cinematography.

I really enjoyed it when I watched it last year.
Tom Hardy's one tough bastard in this movie with all he goes through lol.
