I just saw The Frankenstein Theory. I went into this film pretty wary because it's found footage and these days I am cynical as all hell about these films and because a found footage flick in the search of Frankensteins monster sounds ridiculous as hell. So if you can get past that little hurdle it's actually not that bad..

I think its strength is that its kind of shot and edited like a real film. Yes, it is shot from a film crews perspective but the camera man is mostly silent and shots are framed and actually look good. It's not just some idiot waving and shaking a camera around like maniac. It's also edited with music like a real film. You would not believe how much this improves everything. It doesn't feel cheap and shit.

But then.....Towards the end it does start to follow the found footage tropes and formula as people are picked of and the silent camera man is no more. The camera gets shakier, the people get dumber and the pay off is crap. Standard found footage stuff. So that was disappointing but there's 2/3's of a pretty ok film there!

Have had Frankenstein Theory for a bit now. Have the same reservations you had about the concept.

I wouldn't call it a great film but if your expectations are as low as mine you could certainly do a lot worse!
