The movies outta print . It never made it to DVD . If you saw some where that had it on DVD it was most definitely a DVD-R with the VHS movie on it made with a nice case by a pirate and a nice DVD label on the disc to make it look Authentic.

Oh my the acting and the dialogue in this movie is just terrible!! I looked up the main character in this film (Jeff) and found out this was the only movie he did and nothing else, it's like it was so low budget they just asked a neighborhood kid if he wants to earn a few bucks and star in a horror movie lol.
I had heard so much about this movie being a cult classic and all, I guess my expectations were way too high. I will say this, I didn't hate it, I actually thought the zombies were pretty cool looking and I loved the scenes in the forest where the zombies are just standing there, very cool looking. I also wonder if the Ring was inspired by this film in anyway. Anyway 3.5/10 It's worth checking out for horror movie buffs but just not one of my favorites.

So, did Ringu rip off The Video Dead by having a monster step out of a TV?

The dvd is on amazon, but apparently it's bad. No widescreen, and bad picture quality. I wouldn't buy it anyways. I had the chance to check this out on netflix, in HD. the picture looked good, but I dunno, I just didn't like the movie. It's a horror/comedy that's not funny. Aside from some decent looking zombies, and gore effects (iron in the head), there's not much else to see here, cept some really bad acting. 3/10

The Video Dead is a cinematic masterpiece. Yeah, it's production values shit on wank puddles like Avatar and The Matrix and it transcends all orthadox emotions in a daring and urgent fashion. Ya bet your cock it does. It plays, nay, toys with the notion of an atemporal malaise - aside from time - offering the horizon of a future that can never, nor will never arrive. Only joking. It's shit.
Fancy schmancy artwork though and a nice eighties vibe but a piss poor film. 3/10. |
